Re: Baseball tonight

Roller, are you aware of the huge glitch the site is having (or does jts know)? It can't be accessed from phones, only PCs and tablets (and some apparently can't even get on those ways). That is likely the reason for the lack of traffic the past few days (including zero posts about the USM game).

Re: Birmingham-Southern College closing May 31 as loan bill fails to gain support: ‘This is a tragic day’

My wife's alma mater; she's heartbroken. I've written about them more than once here, for two different reasons. Last time I will. 1. After great success in NAIA in athletics for years, they moved directly to D1 in the early 2000s. In the first year, their hoops team won the Big South and should hav...

Re: YOGWF

Various people I know have been having issues getting to the forum lately. Some can't get on at all, either getting a blank screen or an error. This past weekend I was getting "500 bad gateway" errors maybe 1 out of every 7 or 8 clicks around the site, but I'd click somewhere else and it w...

Re: Basketball gets HS commit - Joseph Teich (PG/SG)

His track and field profile says 5'9, 170.
I've heard walkon. At that size, I'd expect so.

The biggest read here is "apparently the basketball staff is safely in place."

Re: Competition for "most hated" Kim Mulkey v Angel Reese

Apparently there’s a NY Post article about Mulkey getting ready to come out. Nobody knows what it’s about, but she is worried enough about it that she has preemptively spoken out against it. By "spoken out about it", you mean "threatened that she's already enlisted the best law firm ...

Re: March Madness more popular than ever

Definitely more attention/viewers for NCAAW. The women's games have drawn quite a bit. What are the numbers for Iowa vs. everyone else? Just curious. I also suspect the upriver social media drama probably attracts some watchers, in the same way tabloids or Jerry Springer or Maury Povich or dramatic...

Re: Kolby King in transfer portal

Dannen didn't care how big Dunleavy's buyout was when he made the move.. Hunter should have already been fired. Harris needs to step up. The whole Dunleavy thing was an experiment, Dunleavy himself even talked about it that way, and goodness knows he didn't need the money. I suspect his buyout was ...

Re: March Madness more popular than ever

The general social media opinion seems to be that it's a result of the proliferation of legal gambling. Could be true. On the A/V geek side, I also think we're coming through a decade-ish-long weird period where media viewing habits of the population as a whole were changing, almost inverted with av...

Re: Kolby King in transfer portal

Note that in his announcement post, Glenn guaranteed we'll be playing in the NCAA next year. So, again, the players see this whole situation VERY differently than we fans do. (the inexperience of youth?) maybe he knows they're firing Hunter soon? Not gonna lie, that was my first (sarcastic) thought...

Re: Kolby King in transfer portal

Gregg Glenn announced that he is returning to Tulane fwiw. I felt like he didn’t get as much PT as he deserved (like the other reserves). Not to be an "I told ya so", but... ... these guys knew the system we play and willingly signed up for it. For all we know, they could love the system ...

Re: 29th Annual Tulane-free NCAA Tournament Thread

I don’t watch much non-Tulane basketball during the season but have seen a few tournament games and the difference in those teams and us is as big as our net ranking suggests. I have to disagree, if you are looking at equal position player comparisons. I'd put Forbes up against many of the 2/3 guar...

Re: FAU’s Dusty May is reportedly going to Michigan

After it being pretty much a done deal he was going to Louisville on Saturday morning, by Saturday night he was a done deal to Michigan. His agent must be a hustler. I saw a social media post Saturday afternoon purporting to be a picture of the room all set up for a press conference for his intro. I...

Just curious. Any relation to Christian Ducre of several decades ago?
I was wondering if about the relation too. Son former Wave player Brad Ducre?

Re: AAC in the NCAA Tournament

There might be less suspicion from the general public but there's way more eyes on the tournament than your average regular season game, and the Vegas algorithms that detect suspicious betting activity are going to notice. True in general, but depending on the betting value it could be more easily ...

Re: Women’s Basketball search

Sure, great reason why she started at Loyola. Why is she still there a decade later though? Maybe what I said literally in the next sentence? And my suspicion is that she's not looked at by bigger (D1) programs purely for the reason the naysayers here cite... nobody thinks NAIA coaching could possi...

Re: Women’s Basketball search

My thought about Kennedy is she could be a serious "under the radar" situation. Here's why: she coached at Tulane through the best of times and had a hand in it. Everyone wants to credit Katie Meier for all of Stockton's success because Meier went on to head coaching success, and our "...

Re: AAC in the NCAA Tournament

After taking an awful shot to end regulation, FAU unraveled in OT trailing 72-61 with 1:15 left. If by "awful shot" you mean standing there letting the clock run and then heaving it once guarded and having it blocked.... I said at the time that the only similar situation I could recall wa...

Re: Point of order... the season is over ....Hunter should be fired

It appears Oregon plays a match up zone Appears it works when you have good players and a competent coach. I don't think it wasn't a Hunter match up zone.. that's just what Lappas was calling it.. after I posted this the studio analyst (forget the coach) was saying it was a switching defense.. zone...

Y'all also keep thinking it's easy to just get power teams on the schedule whenever you want. A few of us have tried to explain the difficulty, the AAC announcers expounded on it last weekend, Corey Gloor tweeted about it... But I guess y'all know better and it's just an easy thing that we're too la...
