Re: Robert Kelley
He has a big time opportunity right now. Would love to see him beat out the drafted kid as the primary ball carrier and give himself a chance be the primary ball carrier in week 1 should Matt Jones not be ready

Saw that earlier today. For Mathew Berry to say it actually means something as he is the ESPN fantasy "guru".GretnaGrn wrote:http://www.espn.com/fantasy/football/st ... rs-rookies

Re: Robert Kelley
From Washington Post article on last night's game:
"4. Robert Kelley delivers again. The undrafted rookie running back appeared to take another step toward his quest to make the roster and distance himself from Keith Marshall. The Tulane product rushed for 51 yards on 12 carries, averaging 4.3 yards per attempt. But most importantly, Kelley had three really good blitz pickups to buy Cousins time to complete passes. “I knew I had to protect the money man,” Kelley said. “I want him to know I’ve got him and have confidence in me.” Cousins commended Kelley after the game and said he sees the rookie’s confidence growing. Kelley’s play will likely go a long way toward earning the confidence of his coaches as well. His would-be rival for the final running back spot, Marshall, got hurt after one carry, continuing a disappointing preseason. Mack Brown did some good things (11 carries for 43 yards with a long of 15), but Kelley continued to stand out among this young group and appears deserving of making the roster."

Re: Robert Kelley
Did CJ just not recognize his talent, is our depth at running back really that good or was our line even worse than we thought?
Of all the Tulane guys in the NFL, he would be the biggest surprise to me.

Re: Robert Kelley
I've always maintained Tulane running backs are better prepared for the pros because they've always operated behind a line of matadors so they had to learn good protection blocking AND finding running space where there is none.
Re: Robert Kelley
He was a Toledo recruit, we had other good RBs, and he missed a year due to off-field stuff. Yet still got good playing time in our RB rotation last year. Plus I think he lost a bunch of weight.NJwave wrote:Did CJ just not recognize his talent, is our depth at running back really that good or was our line even worse than we thought?

So, you're saying yes to all three? Don't know what Toledo had to do with it.ml wave wrote:He was a Toledo recruit, we had other good RBs, and he missed a year due to off-field stuff. Oftentimes, new coaches will play the guys they recruited over the previous regime's holdovers.gerryb323 wrote:So, you're saying yes to all three? I think CJ/Price probably recognized the talent (he got playing time despite the factors I mentioned), we are/were deep at RB, and I don't think it's possible our OL is worse than we thought. Plus he got in better shape, landed in a good situation in Washington, and is making the most of it.

Re: Robert Kelley
Rob ran for 99 more yards on 16 carries last night, putting the exclamation point on a great preseason. Word is he's locked up his roster spot.

Re: Robert Kelley
I think we counted 12 guys who CJ tried to rid himself of that have had some NFL impact or brush with impact have had. We have had many good athletes come across our bow recently. Tulane has had some good players in the just so recent past...but no coach to push them to the top. It is crazy to me how different coaches value players differently. It's almost like women...one man's diamond is another man's .......

That thud just heard was the Eagles' 3-0 season start coming back to reality, now 3-2.

Saw that Ryan Grant is still with the Skins. Good to hear I had lost track of him. Sadly, they left this pretty exciting game so we can watch the Saints lose.
