Good for him; I suspect he'll do well as he continues to work his way up.

Congrats to Greg and his family. I will fully admit I am surprised by this, as he and his wife (Tulane grad and former tennis player, by the way) have pretty deep roots at Purdue, and it's close to where Greg grew up (with his prior jobs at Miami and USF being close to where his wife grew up).

Interestingly, when googling the story, I found this one: https://purdue.rivals.com/news/report-p ... ith-mercer
with this quote:
He'd previously been a finalist in recent years for head coaching positions at Tulane and Eastern Kentucky, and a candidate for others.
Was he a "finalist" for the job when we hired Conroy? Dunleavy? Or just last week?

Pete I read somewhere that Dannen interviewed 14 candidates (I think) maybe Greg was one of those he talked to.
A magic dwells in each beginning- H.H.

Watch this video with sound on. Matt Painter has impressed me with the job he's done at Purdue and even moreso as a person in this video. Good to see the love for Greg!

P.S. A mod needs to move this thread to the "former players" forum.
