Granier couldn't "sign" because he was still on scholarship at Vanderbilt for this semester. He was granted a waiver to pursue a transfer, but that couldn't be accomplished officially until he graduated. Something changed in the last three weeks...don't know what...but now he's going to UCF.

At a position of need. What a bummer.

To play for the Defending National Champions, perhaps?

Guess he's not that serious about his Master's program ...

"Thanks for holding the scholly for me guys, but i"m going somewhere else, see yah." Grad transfer rule = player free-agency. It is not about continuing education for nearly all of them.

According to the newspaper article, TU currently has 81 on scholly. Which means we have 4 to give. I would like to think at least one will be given to a grad transfer QB. Also, I would have to think that there are some uncommitted grad transfers out there. Giving them a scholly at this point would be like giving them the "sleeves out of our vest." Sorry to lose Granier, but we now know his motivations--I hope we see UCF in December and make him regret his decision.

He's getting a "graduate degree" from a community college. He's reinforced my thoughts on Vanderbilt alumni

Under the new rules we don't have 4 to give. They can be given to players currently on the roster.

Here's a neat list of potential grad transfers: https://gradtransfertracker.com/potential-transfers/

That was my first thought, as well.

We're down to 80 with the news that Michael Scott is transferring. We now have 25 slots to fill in this recruiting cycle before attrition. I'd expect that Merek Glover will get a scholarship now if he wins the starting job as we likely aren't going to be able to have a full 85 until 2020.

Guess the Michael Scott Paper Company football team just got a new player...
