Re: 2019 Master List - Football
From their offer list on 247, it appears Memphis has been recruiting University Lab in BR quite aggressively.

Re: 2019 Master List - Football
TU23 posted this on the Main Board:
Also, we had two kids from Starkville High on campus last weekend and Memphis has a RB commit named Rodrigues Clark that we were after as well from Starkville High who was recruited to Memphis by Will Hall. That would be a nice little bonus if we could snag those three as a package (Zach Edwards- former LSU commit, Jalil Clemons- current Tennessee commit and Rodrigues Clark). I think Jakoby Jones (a JUCO OLineman who also visited) also went to Starkville High. They could all team up with their former teammate Joey Claybrook to form a pretty solid little group.

To give a point of reference on salaries, Kendall Briles signed a 3 year extension to stay at Houston for $700k per year. The running backs coach also agreed to stay for $400k a year. It is nice to have the backing of a Tilman Fertitta.

Shaun King made like $180k last year

Re: 2019 Master List - Football
King was someone we would've considered, but he wants to be in Tampa for his family. He also has no experience calling plays at any level. The guy we got runs a similar offense and has been a play caller for 8 college seasons. He also got a lot of credit for Memphis being so good on offense this year (especially their run game). If I had to guess, we are paying Hall in the $400-500k range.

Re: 2019 Master List - Football
Darius Hodges tweeted tonight that he won't sign early. I'd write him off for now. So we gain a real good one and may have lost a good one.

Re: 2019 Master List - Football
A lot of movement. Going to be one of the most interesting two weeks in Tulane football recruiting that I can remember.
Re: 2019 Master List - Football
Master list updated. Looks like we are currently sitting at 12 firm commitments if we exclude Howard and Hodges, and include McCleskey.
Re: 2019 Master List - Football
Why are you excluding Hodges? Both rivals and 247 list him as a Tulane commit.tjtlja wrote:Master list updated. Looks like we are currently sitting at 12 firm commitments if we exclude Howard and Hodges, and include McCleskey.

Re: 2019 Master List - Football
Hodges tweeted recently that he would not sign in December. He's tweeted a bunch of positive stuff since then but hasn't said he's signing next week. I don't know what's up with him and I don't want to speculate here.

Re: 2019 Master List - Football
I looked a while back for the Hodges tweet and it must have been deleted because I didn't see it. Maybe I overlooked it though. Does someone have a link? His tweets lately have been very positive.

At this point, we could use a QB, another RB (or 2), and some linemen. What do you think?

QB, 3 OL's (at least one older guy), a big DT, a swing guy DL, one ILB, a corner and a safety. BPA any remaining spots.GSx wrote:At this point, we could use a QB, another RB (or 2), and some linemen. What do you think?

Place kicker?
Re: 2019 Master List - Football
There is a PK coming in as a preferred walk-on. See list.
As Gsx and LG noted, with 11 or 12 openings left, I would like to see 1 QB, 3 OL, 1 DT, 1 DE, 2 LB’s, 1 DB, 1 WR, 1 Safety, and the last one to the best available.

Re: 2019 Master List - Football
With the commitment of Ball, I have us at 17 commits. This includes McCleskey and Montano, and excludes Hodges. With 8 scholarships left, my wish list would be -
1. QB - Lance Legendre or Jackson Thomson
2. OL - Nate Clifton
3. DE - Kevin Hester
4. WR - Chandler Whitfield
5. LB - ??? - we need one, especially if Hodges is gone
6. DB - Tyrone Lewis and Tyler Scott
If I get 2 right, I will be surprised.

Re: 2019 Master List - Football
Indications are that Hodges won't sign early. No one quite knows the reason why. I would move on to the next man up. Way too many recruits sign early and if you wait, you could lose.
Re: 2019 Master List - Football
If you read his twitter feed, you would guess he signed last week. As indicated above, it’s often best to keep it simple. Train is leaving the station. It’s your decision until it isn’t. We will fill every seat with you or without.tjtlja wrote:Indications are that Hodges won't sign early. No one quite knows the reason why. I would move on to the next man up. This policy has been wildly successful on the academic side to stop folks from using Tulane as a safety backup. New early signing should work well for Fritz. Hope it does for Hodges but that’s his business.
