I am mailing a contribution today in his name. Great idea.

Rest in peace, Wayne. I'll mis chatting with you and seeing you at the games. I will also miss your thoughtful and informative insight of Tulane Athletics.

Anyway, Wayne got really ticked off and started chanting "Strom's looking at porn, Strom's looking at Porn". Everyone in the arena heard it. Strom got up, didn't look at Wayne and just left. .

That's hilarious
He used to heckle Ted Lewis too. Wayne called him "groceries"... Wayne didn't care.

Can someone provide a photo of Wayne? I feel like I know who he is but can't be sure.

>>i spoke to a former nlu pitcher today and asked him if he remembered a TULANE fan who would heckle the opposing team. he said yep, the fan would watch from the top row 3rd base side and the indians players would laugh their a$$es off in the dugout. i told him that wayne had passed away and he said he was sad to hear it and that TULANE had lost a great fan. he also said he would call coach st.amant tomorrow and tell him.

I sat with Wayne, Stan, Toad, Hawk for many years under the goal at the basketball games. Reading the stories on the board brings back many memories. I was actually going to visit in a couple of weeks while I was in town because I had't seen Wayne in 4 years. It just won't be the same without him at a Tulane sporting events. I hope there was a good turn out today for the funeral and everyone wore green & blue(Wayne would have wanted that) I would appreciate having someone describe the event on here, since I was unable to attend.

There was a brief memorial service at the visitation tonight, and the clergyman present mentioned how much he learned about Wayne from the messages left here. He also mentioned the very different groups that represented Wayne at the service, and how much he made an impact on those around him.

It was a very nice, intimate group. I personally will miss Wayne very much.

Hey Stan,

You're in Denver? I was in Denver last summer. I would have visited if I had known. I just got off the phone with Morris.

When I was a young boy I started attending Tulane baseball games. We would sneak into Tulane stadium and play on the field and in the locker room until Bubba Porche would chase us out. We would then hide all of our gear in the press box elevator and head to watch baseball. When I grew a little older I noticed Wayne and allways heard him discussing stats and recruiting. He was also a great heckler. I would soon start checking in with Wayne and getting my updated stat sheets before the games. Wayne was very friendly to me and always gave me information. I would attend every game I could and always enjoyed his insight . I will miss him greatly.

Wayne Picou worked tirelessly behind the scenes during the review to do everything he could to sustain and win the battle. He was the one who uncovered the actual governing documents concerning the Tulane Board of Administrators providing that the governor and mayor of N.O. were de facto board members. This resulted in getting Mayor Nagin (now of course much maligned, but well respected as a business minded reform mayor back then) to attend that key meeting. It was actually decided in our favor by that moment, it was later discovered, but believe me few if any waging the battle knew that in advance and it was quite an accomplishment in my opinion for Wayne to make that critical discovery. He didn't have the big bucks, buy made up for it effectively in so many ways.

Ditto to everything tufinal4 said. Wayne gave his heart and soul to Tulane. He was the lifeline of Tulane information to 1000s on the internet for years and a good friend. RIP Wayne.

Final 4 offered a beautiful depiction of what Wayne meant for TU athletics.

I visited him in that dreary room the night before he died, the only time I had seen him since he had fallen ill: and he was fighting for life, as his breathing was extremely labored, the Lord provided him peace from his pain.

RIP Wayne.

Wayne cannot be replaced but this year we all ought to resolve to be a little more vocal and a lot more optimistic. Wayne never accepted that there are immutable limitations on the success any Tulane sport can achieve. Neither do I and neither should you. Yee haw!
