2018 Football Recruiting
Re: 2018 Football Recruiting
Shout out for Amare Jones. We did end up with four commitments from last week's visitors as he tweeted. Just took a few days of patience to get there.
Back to the theme of filling up the bus in December. Note today's timing of Brooks's commitment. It came before this weekend's recruits visited. Momentum matters and it is not wild speculation to guess that Brooks saw he might not have an offer next week. Who cares? He's aboard and welcome to Tulane.

He's playing in TX 4A state semi- final game this tonight.

Devin Glenn tweeted at him a green heart and a wave which Tate retweeted for whatever that's worth

Re: 2018 Football Recruiting
Some of the visitors at the same position have better offers than Tate (four G5's); some may be more highly rated though he's a 3 *** on 247. He's the next Derrick Strozier/Jordan Batiste in my opinion.

I'm crying over this. Really crying. (Where's the pink font?)
Indirect indicator that perhaps the Tulane's of the world are benefiting from this change.

Exactly Bay this change is helping us I’m convinced of that

Re: 2018 Football Recruiting
Perhaps next step for football recruiting will be a preseason signing date like basketball has? I'm ok with that too as enough good players will not want to risk waiting until February that Tulane will do better than recruiting in pre-2017 system.
LG is probably right. We will see see some folks strung along by P5 teasing which comes to nil in February and they end up at FCS because G5's are full.

Nm. Read something wrong
Re: 2018 Football Recruiting
While it may benefit us, keep in mind even Fritz has said publicly that he doesn't like the early signing period either. If all of the coaches unite to fight against this we may see it go away.

Julien Gums of Dela Salle will not be signing early. Keep an eye on this one. I think it possible that the staff are interested in him as an LB.

Re: 2018 Football Recruiting
247Sports lists him as 5'9. The interview from september (below) says 5'11. He looks short in the game film I've seen, but maybe that's just short-for-a-QBlong green wrote:Julien Gums of Dela Salle will not be signing early. Keep an eye on this one. Has played QB and RB at De la Salle

He is built like a LB but is athletic enough to have played more than adequate QB for a very good team. BTW just like Lindsey Scott, he is not 5'11''. Hope he lands in a good spot.WaveProf wrote:247Sports lists him as 5'9. The interview from september (below) says 5'11. Plan your work, work your plan.
Re: 2018 Football Recruiting
He is much more "solid" than Marley but still able to play decent QB. You don't need an educated eye to see why recruiting "experts" see him more likely as a linebacker in college. Although he obviously could give RB a shot as well. His high school lost two games in two years under him after decades of mediocrity. That's the best benchmark for evaluating him in my amateur view.

It’s also a 3 day signing period. So we may not fully know about some of the prospects we are after until Friday.

I have noticed a few guys announcing their signing tomorrow at their respective schools. Love that most include the rolling wave emoji and some even include the hashtag #merryfritzmasDonny Z wrote:It’s also a 3 day signing period. Re: 2018 Football Recruiting
The TP came out with their all Metro teams. Macon Clark and Damien Tate made the big schools team on defense, with Tate name the player of the year. You should read up on what they have to say about Tate.
