This year's class in LA is pretty good but next year's class is DEEP and talented. A good year this year could really allow us to reap the benefits in recruiting for the 2019 class.

Right now I just want to hold on to this years class . Hanging on to our two big DT's is a must . I would like to add another big body DL and another Blue Chip RB and top the class off with a JC LT.

I like that 8 of those are committed to other schools. It seems like we rarely got guys already committed to come visit in the past.

Presume Tulane will have a few HS visitors this weekend vs. Army. Anyone seen a list?

these tend to come out closer to the weekend.

I can't stop paying attention to Julien Gums of De La Salle. He's a QB whose HS coach calls him a running back prospect. He's chewing up good defenses from the shotgun. He's 5'10" or so and over 210 pounds. He's committed to Nicholls but we should be checking him out. We should have had him on campus this summer (we may have done).

He looked very good running against St Aug. I'd agree that he's likely a RB.

I had mentioned him to you as a QB, but he does remind me more of a Bradwell type that would make a good converted RB.

That was after a big game last week as well. Looks like he'd thrive in our offense.

Give the kid a redshirt year while Banks is a Senior, and we might have a nice stable between he, McClain, and Brantley.

Isn't recruited as a RB?

I can see us having a package with Jones at QB but only as a change of pace. He's going to be a really good RB. If we were running the option full time like Army or Navy, he'd be incredible as a QB. For what Fritz says he wants to do, Shegog is a much better option.

Patrick Shegog is going to play QB and, if his films are any indication, he is going to be a good one.

Let's talk about numbers....by my count, we have 17 open spots right now and 14 commitments. I could easily see us getting to 20 by "graduating" three RS Juniors who don't play....and there are two other third year players on the roster that I could see leaving due to lack of playing time past, present and most likely future. So we could have anywhere from 3 to 8 open spots. Going to be interesting to see what we do.

I read/heard somewhere from someone on the coaching staff that the number was going to be around 20 also. Very interested to see how the early signing date will change things up.

Fritz said that. We'll see. As of now, I'd go one DE, a RB, a LB, two DB's, and right now a placekicker.

No. Fix one first. Besides, you can always try Neenan there as well.

How many WR's in this class? Do we anticipate signing another 3-4 Wr's?

I doubt it. We have 12 on the roster with Ledford and there are a couple young guys that think will be good. We may sign a couple if they are guys we can't pass on. The dropped passes should be correctable.
