Early Signing Period

Post by tjtlja »

Any news today?

Speaking of today, what was the most anticipated announcement on signing day you can remember when it comes to the Wave? I know we have lost out on many kids, but the Honeycutt announcement was so exciting. On the flip side, when Toby Caston signed with lsu, it was heart breaking.

Logan Stevens, OF, from John Curtis made it official signing with Tulane today for baseball. And the fourth signee that I have seen on Twitter is Zach Goberville, a highly rated 3B prospect from Palm Beach FL
also here is more on Blake Johnson of Gulfport, Miss., another baseball signee in the fold today. all this comes from Twitter links for the players and/or their hometown newspapers plus background info from Perfect Game website.

Randy, it looks like the girls and men’s baseball did well today. The Johnson kid looks great on paper. Can’t wait to see what type of pitching they get. Any news on men’s basketball?

Moses Wood, 6-7 SF from Galena HS in Nevada signed his letter of intent to play men's basketball at Tulane an hour or so ago at his school, Twitter verifies.

Randy, I saw something on you tube where Wood was rated number 11 at his position. Was that a state ranking or a national ranking? I have read his game has taken off.

ESPN calls him a 3-star who could play like a 4-star at the college level, fwiw.

I like that but can he shoot a 3. Consistently.

fearthewave, thanks for the excellent write up on Moses. I still have some misgivings, he looks pretty "slight" and we've seen kids like that just get manhandled in AAC play. And a 3 point shooter in high school where the competition is inconsistent isn't always a good guide to how they'll do when they go to college and they see much quicker and athletic players ho know how to use their body to disrupt your shot. Time will tell.

Moses has a nice fluid shooting stroke. Tape was a year old or so. Looked then like a smaller Sehic-type. If he will play forward (even a 3) then he must have continued to grow since the taping with another year to go before he hits the court for Tulane. At 190 today, he will definitely benefit from college training table/weight lifting regime.

Where was the video taken, that did not look like a varsity gym (or varsity competition for that matter).

Moses isn't going to be expected to do any heavy lifting on offense until the 2019-20 season. That's plenty of time to get stronger. People forget that Cam Reynolds was a bit on the lean side himself when he got there. Of course he benefited from a redshirt year.

The official site broke a record by having a hoops signing story up immediately after a player signed. Usually, the quickest we would ever see one of these was when the signing period was over, if then.

The picture of him in the article begs for a stop by the weight room and Domilise's on a daily basis.
