He's not tall but that's all. If he were 5'10" he'd be an SEC signee.

Reminds me a lot of Brent Grimes of the NFL. Short, but with good timing and good hops. Played Safety in the Hudl tape, though. Nickel back?

BTW, if Tate is #22, who is #21?

Correct. And while he might not count against the typical 25 number of signees the general feeling was we’d hit our 85 cap before the 25 cap. He’s 22 in total number of new guys as it relates to 85 total scholarships.

This is going to be a very interesting week. We are still on a lot of big time guys and already have our best class in forever. Really impressive what this staff has done!

And I’m convinced the early signing date helped us. Tate runs counter to the bigger DB’s that WF has been targeting but I agree with lg if he was bigger he would be getting offers from the “Big Programs”

There is no question. Especially teams with no bowl game, the coaching staff, in Tulane's case returning intact, has nothing to do BUT recruit. So we have two big things going for us: time and a stable coaching staff who are all on the same page. Coupled with the fact that we can say we defeated two bowl teams this last season and also lost a controversial game of our own to get into a bowl, AND the chance to prove yourself against the best of the best next season, we have a compelling story to tell. Not to mention a great University behind us to seal the deal. I hope the NCAA doesn't change a thing.

A reach maybe, but Grambling played in the Celebration bowl. They won 11 games.

Long Green, in the midst of the angst, anger and turmoil of the SMU outcome said something that has ended up being prescient.
Paraphrasing: All of us - fans, players, admin, etc need to ramp up the sense of urgency. But he specifically called out the coaches. They should expect to excel EVERY DAY on the recruiting trail.
This looks like this has happened.

Not a reach at all. The two bowl teams are Army and Houston.

I think the reach is to count Grambling as a third bowl team we beat.

Maybe that is why he said two.

And if you had said "three" the rest of us would have understood your point much earlier.

If we count grambling we beat (on the field and in truth) four bowl teams. I saw us beat smu and I don't care what some idiot side judge whose view was blocked wanted to see but in truth did not.

Probably not, and maybe I am the only one who did not understand it. No big deal.

I think saying "we were one inch away from a bowl game this year, come help us get that inch" can be a powerful recruiting tool.

Not as funny as my take on your "redacted for probity"
