Sterling Stockwell has a scholarship offer from Army and preferred walk-on offers from Illinois and Virginia Tech. Kohl's professional camps lists him as the 20th best kicker for the class of 2018.

glad he's here but I also hope and pray the Staff actually saw him, multiple times, in person.

With Army offering him, it means that we will have to offer a scholly, I imagine.

It isn't the Army offer that forces this, its the P5 ones. If it was us vs Army, you could try to argue we are a better conference and, you know, not a military college. But when you factor our tuition and the fact that he has offers to cheaper schools in P5 conferences, then it makes it difficult to have a serious shot without offering a scholership

I don't care as much if we burned a scholarship on him. If he's a true Div.1A quality PK that doesn't make you cringe when he kicks the ball or say a silent player when we line up for extra points and has a range that exceeds 40 yards for FG's...........I'll be happy as can be.

Get Ed Murray and Cairo Santos together with him. We need to start another line of top-notch kickers

Bring him in if you're as certain as you can be that he'll be at least a B grade college kicker starting this year. If you're not that certain, pass and bank on Glover improving. Lots of players do.

My read of the scouting report from Kohl's Camps is that Stockwell is a better-than-average field goal kicker. His strength stands out more on kickoffs, which may suggest upside potential in developing into a stronger field goal kicker.

Stockwell just committed to us via Twitter. He used a verbal formula in his statement that makes me wonder if he is walking on.

Nice pickup. We need competition at that position.

Even the team chaplain welcomed him. Fritz uses everyone in this world and the next to help recruiting. We will win.....

We need a guy with icewater in his veins and a killer instinct in addition to a leg. I hope that Sterling has all three. Welcome.

Sorry for sounding so odd, I was referring to the words he used to announce his commitment. They reminded me of the words used by at least 2 young men who came in as preferred walkons last year. I used that phrase because I didn't think it was a coincidence and I have reason to think I was right. That's all.
