Just based on my google search it seems like he may have been at Auburn in the past but it’s hard to find much info on him.

He’s certainly got videos of himself and Jewett on his Twitter

Big, strong looking kid. Can he play football too?!

He has a link to sec rant message board, but I couldn’t find much else about him either. That says it’s a new Twitter account. I found the old one but not much more info. https://mobile.twitter.com/CarterAcarter8

Destin Dotson is a 6-6 LHP, 225 lbs. Here is a good Advocate story on him:

Interesting that he does not play basketball. Scotlandville has a very good basketball team and he would be the tallest player on its roster. Hard to wonder about this since his baseball prospects have sky rocketed. Obvious question is what happens in MLB draft in a few months.

Meanwhile congrats to Coach J for snagging a great Louisiana commitment.

Coach Jewett is a tremendously hard worker when it comes to recruiting. He never stops like the energizer bunny. Great job by him and the staff.

I’m sure he can. But if he’s taking a baseball scholarship he’s not going to be playing on the football team.

At his size and length, should be able to increase that 85 mph fastball. Could be special, and being a lefty doesn’t hurt.

Back in HS I was a catcher when our ace was 6’7”. At that size it totally changed how I would call games. Even when he threw a changeup with that huge “uncoiling” motion, batters were thrown way off in timing. And for any other pitch I swear it looked like he was halfway to the plate by the time he released the pitch. If this kid is any good he could become a real weapon.

Sounds like he's interested in his education. Hopefully he'll stick.

He better have, because 85 ain't jack. I would be surprised if he doesn't throw harder than 85 because of his size. If not, he is a project at best. And he better have an A+ breaking ball.

I'd think if he threw 90 with an A+ breaking ball, he'd skip college altogether

Not necessarily. My son is a lefty who threw 86 with an A+ curve and was not recruited by the "big guys." He played in college, but there are plenty of guys in college who throw from the left side at 90+. The theory is, I can teach you how to throw a curve ball (or slider or slurve), but I can't teach you how to throw 90+. Plus, a pitcher's command has a lot to do with his effectiveness.

Bottom line, I think that the intro is a typo, it probably means 95, not 85. You would never highlight throwing 85 going into college--it would be a detriment, not a selling point.
Plan your work, work your plan.
