Looks like we have our 1st commit for 2019. This tweet has been retweeted by Willie and Wesley Fritz as well as JJ Mcleskey.

A quick scroll through his twitter account shows usm, Texas state and all the fcs in state schools have offered. Also showed he’s real close with his class of 2020 qb who has been offered by Bama, Georgia the tiggers and basically everyone else in the country.

He plays in a wing position in his HS offense & runs a lot of pass routes. He'd be doing something different here so it's not easy to project.

And he is supposed to commit to the cesspool up the river today.

He was hurt the vast majority of 2017. When healthy, he's very quick and has some long speed. I'd say from a height/weight/speed standpoint, he matches up favorably to Garland LaFrance last year. He might have a touch more initial burst, but they are very comparable. If he had been healthy last year, he'd have 10-15 offers by now IMO...with a similar recruitment to LaFrance.

He looks bulkier than LaFrance to me.

As I've written before, for these option type offenses to work you have to have a credible threat at an inside game. That usually means a big strong kid with talent that can gash you up the middle if the defense starts cheating toward the ends. Looks like he could fit that need. Also, if he has the expected senior year his recruiting should blow up, hopefully he'll remember who stood by him first.

I had heard about him a while back. Has been wanting to commit to Tulane but had to wait for an offer.

Spears caught 20 passes for 311 yards & 2 td’s last year.

He made it official. Too bad for him, they don't utilize dual threat QBs too well.

Listed at 5'10" 175 so I think he's more speed on the edge than strength up the middle.

Finley is not really a dual-threat guy.

Finley is not really a dual-threat guy.

Everything I read referred to him as "one of the top dual threat QBs in his class".

Spears was just rated an 83 by 247, a three-star and the 50th ranked player in LA. That would equate to a low 3 star on Rivals.
