Sean Chandler picked in Round 6 of MLB Draft

Iowa Western JC pitcher Sean Chandler goes to Texas Rangers with pick no. 179 (mid-6th round). slot money just under $265K; he was/is a Tulane baseball recruit/signee.

Chandler led his junior college pitching staff at Iowa Western, going 11-0 with a 1.34 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 74 innings, including five complete games. Pitching out of a high three-quarters delivery, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound right-hander will sit 91-to-93 mph with his fastball and touch 95, and he'll spin some curveballs. Chandler hides the ball well, and he's been improving.

I think they have a pretty good idea of a player's willingness to sign for the slot money before they pick him. I'd say that Mr. Chandler is a goner.
