Started 7 games last season. Former 3* recruit out of HS. Had issues with turning the ball over but USM beat writers said he was making progress this spring.

Sits one redshirt year and plays two.

Looks like a really solid pickup. Offers from Louisville, MS State, Memphis and Ole Miss out of high school.

Sr. year high school stats show he threw for 3317 yards with 43 TDs and only 10 INTs. Also ran the ball for 456 yards and 3 TDs.

At worst he’ll be a highly capable backup. He turned it over too much and aside from that the other guy was more effective. But a year off with no pressure could do him good.

His stats:
2016 (his redshirt was burned late and he was thrown in after an injury):
22c 50a 365y 1td 4int 44c 150y 2td’s
2017
96c 170a 1199y 8td 5int 54c 181y 0td’s

upside: Banks
downside: poor man’s Banks

I've been impressed with whoever is covering the state of MS for us.

We recruited Howard out of HS, coming in late. Thakarius Keyes was a HS teammate of his.

Good news. I still think we will see another experienced transfer/JC QB either now or in January. If Banks explodes this season and with no incumbents, it will look like a large honey pot for 2019 season to those riding the pine somewhere.

Did you all notice the Advocate story on Ed O saying he did not intend to rotate his QBs? Clemson, Bama, OSU and others all churn QBs too just like LSU.

No need for another mature guy, unless he’s unturndownable. On paper we’d have three guys who’ve been in the system for at least one year. Get a young guy.

Let's hear it for both maturity and youth!

Does he show up right now? I understand he would sit this season. Thanks for clarifying.

Can he practice right now or does he have to wait? Is he registered?
