Willie Fritz has said next year’s signing class will be small. That means everyone here will think we can only sign seven or eight guys. We likely will not sign as many guys next year as this year but as of this moment we would have twenty openings for next year and can only knock two off of that by filling out the 2019 class. Show me a team with twenty slots now and I’ll show you a team that signs a full load in the next class. But I think attrition is slowly slowing down here as Fritz now has a full team of his guys (save only Keyshawn McLeod). Here’s my position breakdown for next year’s group (anyone can play this game):

QB: 2 (we have to find the 2021 starter here so no pressure unless we get that guy as a transfer with one of the two 2019 slots)
RB: 2 (need one no-doubter here)
WR: 2
TE: 1 (could be zero if we nailed it with the two 2019 signees)
OL: 4 (Tackle is a spot for a possible older guy, imo)
DE: 2 (this is the spot where we whiffed this week)
Joker: 0
DT: 2
ILB: 1
OLB: 1
CB: 2
S/Nickel: 1
Specialist: 1

That comes to 21, which I think we’d be able to do easily.

We're going to need to replace Geron Eatherly after next year. He's been a huge asset as a long snapper. We also may have to replace Merek Glover. If Coby Neenan can't become the placekicker, then we likely let him go, and we'll sign 2 specialists but letting Neenan go, we'd be creating another spot.

I think the staff are looking for good walkons to promote at both spots. If you can find one guy on campus to do that with it will take a lot of pressure off.

Yeah, he’s a preferred walk-on. If he looks like he knows what he’s doing after a season of being looked at put him on scholarship. The same goes for the tall kicker from Chicago.

With all our problems with kickers we need to sign kickers that are worthy of a scholarship. To try and get by on walk-ons is a mistake.

I know rankings for these positions are a little different but to be considered 5* and #1 in the state of Florida tells me he won’t be snapping over the punter’s head.

I agree. Looks like we are good at punter for a while, but to me, a scholarship on a kicker is worth every penny if he’s a good one.

This might sound like a dumb question, but from here on out, can we sign any eligible player or is there an “off period”?
