Looks like a great pickup
Re: Tulane baseball gets a big Jr. college commit
In April he commits to S. Carolina and says he always wanted to go there. He had an official visit planned to Tulane after he visited USC, but canceled it. In June he flips his commitment and picks Tulane. Says he loves music …

Does this mean they move Niemann to another position?
Re: Tulane baseball gets a big Jr. college commit
If Niemann continues to hit this summer, one would think they would want his bat in the lineup.
Frankie Niemann has a big night at the plate 5-5 with 1-BB drives in 4 and raises his average to .512

Can Frankie play 1b? If not, he can always DH. And of course if this Aviles wins the starting job Frankie can give him the odd day off.

This is good news. We needed to upgrade the catcher position. Shortstop is next.
We deserve so much better

Last year we cut a Freshman catcher, Blake Johnson. He went on to have a good season at Jones Junior College.

So, what, New Orleans just became a city known for jazz music in the past month? Had he missed the music aspect of the city prior to that?gerryb323 wrote:He does indeed say that in the linked articlerandymc wrote:think he plays the saxophone

all the box scores for Jones County that I checked show Blake Johnson playing third base, not catcher. he did have a good year...batting .340 with 7 HRs in 49 games.

PG Baseball shows him as a switch hitter coming out of high school.
Is he still a switch hitter? (TU needs some impact players. Lets hope this is one of them)

his junior college bio says Aviles bats R, throws R

Looks like a great pick-up. Don’t know much about Alabama JC ball, but if Kingston wanted him than I am sold. It should be noted that JC pitching staffs are terrible as a whole.
Re: Tulane baseball gets a big Jr. college commit
Wallace Community College sent a ton of folks to D1 this year and a lot went to the SEC.
Their head coach is former MLB catcher Mackey Sasser. He is a nice guy and does a great job, especially with the pitchers and catchers.
