The NCAA vote on one time transfers will be May 20th.
Re: Basketball Recruiting Info
Interesting ESPN article about why Purdue's Haarms selected BYU over Kentucky and TT. Some of this seems to describe Hunter's recruiting success to date especially with transfers.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... ommits-byu
'Haarms wasn't able to take visits due to the coronavirus pandemic, and he's only driven through the state of Utah, but he said some of the criteria that went into his decision coming out of high school were no longer factors.
"I'm an older guy, 23 years old. It wasn't where I'm spending the next four years," Haarms said. "It's not even a one-year deal. It's eight months. At this point in my career, I'm not worried about facilities and locker rooms and how many Nike shoes I'm getting. That stopped being important for me." '
This quote syllable for syllable could have come from KJ Lawson last year.
So it is not a longshot for Hunter to land the Nebraska player just using video-recruiting against Sampson and Fertittaville. We'll see.

is he Mormon? what is the Covid rate there?
Re: Basketball Recruiting Info
There is a push inside the NCAA to move the one time transfer vote back to January, but so far the vote is still scheduled for May 20th. It is my understanding that the decision must be approved by University Presidents. Some of those coaches against changing the rule have argued that not making transfers sit out will turn college basketball into "an AAU type model." Even if the one time transfer rule is approved, most coaches recognize that the waiver rules have to change.
Re: Basketball Recruiting Info
The deadline for declaring for the NBA draft is today. So far 14 AAC players have declared.
Re: Basketball Recruiting Info
Justin Kier commits to Georgia.

No idea if he's Mormon, but the county Provo is in, Utah County, currently has 725 cases and 7 deaths. The county has 526,000 people in it.Yankeewave wrote:is he Mormon? what is the Covid rate there?

A banger who can block shots. Terrible foul shooter, never over 50% in any of his three years. Would be a nice addition to give Days some rest.doc wrote:More on Galin Smith - He made an official visit to Tulane back in 2016. LSU had a lot of interest in him

Re: Basketball Recruiting Info
Jon Rothstein tweets this a.m. that Kevin Cross, 6-8, F and Nebraska transfer is coming to Tulane.
Re: Basketball Recruiting Info
This is big news on Kevin Cross. In the last 48 hours there has been a mass player exodus from Wake Forest in the wake of the Danny Manning firing. The key transfer is All - ACC 7-0 C Olivier Sarr. Another transfer is 6-3 PG Jahcobi Neath who Tulane offered in the past.

Looks like 7 or 8 newcomers when all is said and done
Re: Basketball Recruiting Info
As a freshman, Cross averaged 7.1 points, 3.9 rebounds in only 18 minutes per game. He scored 23 points with 9 rebounds in their Big Ten tourney loss to Indiana. He scored 17 against Michigan and 17 against Wisconsin as well.

Re: Basketball Recruiting Info
I think this is all good news but here’s a question for all you guys who follow recruiting in depth. At what point does a program need to spend more time on the the old blocking and tackling of recruiting a majority of 4 year (or maybe 3 year if they are that good and leave early) players? Or is this the age of wholesale changes every year, where you keep 2-3 core guys and change the rest each year?
We all know Hunter needed to do something radical inheriting a 4 win team, but is this the new norm?
