Reaching out to former players, especially those from successful regimes, is always a good signal about a coach. It shows a lot of confidence and open-mindedness.
Welllllll... turns out they just happened to offer this kid and haven't actually contacted Christian yet. But I suspect that is coming.

Tulane has offered 6-9 270# transfer post player Javian Davis. He started 14 games last year for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He has three years of eligibility left, and is originally from Canton, Mississippi.

This one looks promising. We already have another Alabama transfer don’t we?

Yes, Jaylen Forbes - Both Davis and Forbes redshirted together at Alabama, and both are from Mississippi towns near Jackson, so they may have known each other for years.

This would be a huge get but I assume it means somebody would have to leave the program. This late in the game, I hope that kid would be allowed to stay at Tulane if he chose to. Any word on the potential eligibility of any of the transfers if there is a season?

I believe Javian Davis is eligible for a waiver, making him immediately eligible.

More re: Javian Davis - Tulane transfer Gabe Watson is also from Jackson, Mississippi. Watson, Forbes, and Javian Davis were all in the 2018 High School class. In high school Javian Davis was recruited under the name Javian Fleming.

Got to be the son of Pels assistant coach and former NBA player Michael Ruffin.

Davis would have been a nice get. Oh well.

Jon Rothstein also tweeted something to the effect of the NCAA is being very generous with transfer eligibility. I don't think that is surprising. We really need our transfers to be eligible to be competitive this year if there is a season.

Looking at some of the team pictures, it looks like Pope got himself in great shape although I thought he was wearing a knee brace in one picture. Days does not look bigger than last season. Walker is my prediction for breakout performer if he can just learn to let the game come to him more.

Tulane has offered 2021 SG Jalen Blackmon from Marion, Indiana. Among the other schools that have offered him include Houston and St Louis. He has recovered from a knee injury and is a big offensive talent.
