Yup - I was in that number as was my future wife, who started to get "into it" with an opposing female fan during the game. I knew for sure then, that she was a keeper?

I was there. Lived in BR at the time and went to the game with a busload of LSU fans. They were not happy campers.

I was actually there with my ex-wife....who went to ... you guessed it. It was a much longer trip back to St. Pete than normal. I am blessed with my current wife of 29 years...who loves the WAVE.

I was there in '72 with my parents and my wife. My wife, who is not by any means a sports fan, cried at the end of that one because she knew how much a win over the school from Baton Rouge would mean to me.

That brings back memories of my mother refusing to look up during the last 5 minutes or so of the game because she knew somehow we would lose. She just sat with her head down. The whole family kept urging her to get up as the stadium was literally rocking (our seats were in the Northwest endzone) as time was running out and the crowd was in a frenzy. When she finally did it was obvious she had been crying the whole time.
There will never be a sports memory like that night for me.

No doubt a great night in the history of the program. We lost the year before 9-3. On the last play our QB threw the ball just a bit behind our back who had to reach back for it slowing his momentum to the goal and allowed LSU's LB to stop him just short of the winning TD. Then later the news came that LSU had scheduled too many home games for the 1973 season so the next game would also be at Tulane Stadium. I knew then we were going to win. Not only did we win we shut them out which really galled them. A glorious night that should always be remembered and respected by true diehards.

I was at the previous game as well, sitting in the the opposite endzone from where the last play took place. From our perspective, it looked for sure like he was going to score and were shocked when he was tackled just short of the goal line. Wasn't that Steve Foley throwing it to a back?

I was in the north end zone directly above the play. A real killer. I think it was Foley.

These 2 sentences say it all. The first one would never happen in this day and age. LSU scheduleing too many home games. Ha, that's funny. They would play all home games if they could. But I also remember the reason they changed venues because they did not want to play too many home games because they didn't want to put too much of a $ burden on their season ticket holders with one more game. And the Wave fans "knew we were going to win" was pretty much a 100% feeling among the Wave fans. Hmm, I think I may go crank up my DVD player. :snappy:
