Where does Jeremy Williams rank among all-time TU WR?

Unread post by FW »

His numbers are very good, but not as good as some other guys. But he also (and this is not meant as a knock on players so calm down) has had some of the worst QB play compared to guys like Dawson, Roydell, Zeno.

Top 10, but not top 5. Zeno was the best. You'd have to include Franklin, and yes, Barrios in there also.

I tend to agree that Zeno was the best, at least that I saw, or in the modern era. I'd like to have seen JW play on the '98 team or with Ramsey or Losman or Jones.

Zeno had the best numbers, Roydell the most talent. But when it comes down to it, Jujaun was always money when it mattered most. He is the one I have the best memories of, so I'm picking him.

I agree that JW would have been more memorable had he been with better teams or at least had a better QB.

From a talent perspective, I'd like to add Robert Griffen. Zeno would get my vote as best.

Gee, there were so many talented receivers - - Sheffield, Lou and Ed Bravo, Mc Gee, Barrios and on and on and on. But if I had to pick just one guy, I guess it would have to be Zeno.

Kerwin Cook and Adrian Burnette were both really special. Jeremy Williams is among their caliber.

JaJuan and P.J. are in a class of their own.

I loved Zeno as well, but he lacked the speed and versatility J. Williams displays. Has any other TU receiver contributed significantly not just as a receiver but as a running back and on kick-offs like Williams has?

Zeno was AP first team all American, so I'll have to go with him. I remember watching him being introduced on the Bob Hope annual show where they introduced the AP first team.

Many receivers contributed as did Williams. Two of those persons were George Kinek, who also returned kicks, ran the ball, caught passes, played DB, punted, was a forward on the basketball team and played lst base on the baseball team and Max McGee who also ran the ball, played DB, ran back punts and punted. There were numerous players that played multiple positions and sports such as Ray Weidenbacher, Tookie Spann and many others.

Jeremy Williams is a remarkable athlete, one of the best , but not the only one or best of them.

I'll say this. In terms of accomplishments at TU, Jeremy is probably a top 10 all-timer. But he is a better athlete than most of the guys ahead of him. We may be revisiting this question soon because Jeremy will, in my opinion, have a very good pro career.
