Tulane Baseball roster now stands at 37 players

Post by randymc »

not sure if this is old news, but the Tulane baseball roster has been trimmed to 37 at this point.
no longer listed are pitchers Chris Oakley, Burton Schnake and Jack Hogan; as well as infielder Michael Kirsch

Schnake was the only one of those guys that was even listed on a team for the fall World Series.

Have to be down to 35 for the start of the season, right?

Other Guys that participated in the fall World Series but are not on the current roster: Andrew Gorham and Sam cork sucker

I thought Oakley was one of the ones we had high hopes for.

2 years ago there were high hopes for Oakley, but he had trouble throwing the ball over the plate the past couple of years.

Game times are on the schedule now. Looks like a return to 2pm first pitch on Saturdays, at least early in the season.

Sorry to hear that. I was able to attend many more Saturday games this past season with the later start time.

Here's a play from the not so distant past to kick-off the new year ... when does practice start?

I don't mind the early start in February and March, because I can't stand cold weather baseball. I'm still on the lonely island advocating mid week day games.

The Saturday starts in April and May are still TBD, so maybe they will go back to 4pm for those games.

I like the early Saturday games.
We used to do a day game for the midweek about once a year. I don’t mind it if it’s just one.

There’s a Baseball Season Ticket holder party on January 27, you must RSVP by Jan 19th.

So, if you haven’t ordered your Baseball Season tickets, do so by January 19th.

There’s a special going on right now - 20% off season ticket prices, use the code “NewYear”

Meet the team, take a tour, get autographs, etc... Sounds like a nice event.

We need 3 kids to greyshirt at this point. Will almost certainly be freshmen who will end up receiving redshirts. Unfortunately, a gretshirt cannot practice with the team, so that stinks for the player, but it’s better than being flat out cut. I noticed that Hayden Onorato is still in school but not on the roster. He could be one of the greyshirts (he’d make 4).

Marc Theberge recently had shoulder surgery for an injury he sustained during fall ball
Hunter Abdalla has not recover from TJ surgery and will sit out the year
As for the third take your pick

We have 4 catchers freshman Jake Revere could redshirt
Matt Rowland 5 th year senior that can only DH
Luke Glancy R-So still recovering from knee surgery. Sat out almost the entire fall ball season

My understanding is that Theberge, Abdalla, Revere, and Mangurian will be grey shirted.

So Abdalla is going to miss 2 consecutive full seasons with an injury? That doesn’t seem good.
