LSU @ Tulane

Unread post by TUPF »

It’s a measure of the state of Tulane baseball that we are within 24 hours or so of hosting the Corndogs and nothing much to say.

I say we win this one because...what the he!!.

This hasn't been mentioned here but some tiggers have wrung their hands over it: The game will not be picked up by any TV network proper and is exclusively on All-Access. CBSSN must have declined their second tier rights.

I'll be surprised if he goes for more than 3 innings. They'll go wholestaff as they are wont to do

I want to say we scored Labas’ first runs allowed this season when we last played them. If not that, then s9mething similar.

Actually he went 4 against us and hasn't gone less than 5 in his midweek starts since then. If it's a close game early they'll likely extend him.

Realistic but can-do reporting from our beat writer. May it happen.

LSU is a significant waste of time and money.

Playing them in sports? Or attending there as a student?

If it is the first, I strongly disagree. I want to pound that entire university into the ground in every way and every fashion available to us.

If it is the later, I mostly agree, though it does depend on the major/discipline to some degree.

The state of Louisiana would be a lot better off if we just blew LSU up, paved it over and behaved as if it had never been there.

TU 10 - lsu 9

So glad I watched on All Access and kept my mouth shut until Tulane won. Super win although it could have happened so much easier. Roll Wave.

Mainieri with the classic strategy on bringing in his closer to intentionally walk two to load the bases and then bring in five infielders and, Oh My, your stud closer walks in the winning run. Thanks Coach. Should go over big in BR.

... and Spoon's HR as the leadoff hitter was scripted. The whole time he's at the plate I'm thinking when he hits it it's headed over the fence. To quote Graf - 'Ask and you (ye) shall receive.' Clutch at bat.

Here's the key events in bottom of the ninth ...

For a split second I considered leaving in the top of the 9th. Glad I stuck around for the end

I don't know anything about East Tennessee State (18-15) or Texas Southerm (16-22), but it sure would be nice to resume conference play at .500 overall.

ETSU is a solid squad. They've beaten Memphis (which doesn't mean much I admit) and Tennessee 2/3 this year. They are 5-7 in the SoCon which is a decent baseball conference and their RPI is top 100, just a few spots ahead of us. It would be excellent to sweep, but we definitely need a series victory. Need to build on whatever momentum we've captured over the last few games.

Who will pitch Friday night? Graf stated after last night's game that Roper still had some pain in his ankle, and will most likely not be pitching Friday :?

Side note to the game - Spoon is 12 for 24 in his career against lsu with 12 runs. He has only lost once to them.
