If we're going to hope for something, I think in an ideal world micromanaging the baseball assistants is something that shouldn't even get near the AD's desk.

Is that bad? It's not good.

How do you pronounce Tighe?

Of course, the numbers don't complete account for the missing all-american catcher, an all-american short stop, and plus-plus-plus centerfielder, and plus-plus corner outfielders.

Jake Rogers was worth a run and a couple walks to any pitching staff.

Edit to add: There is still something not right with the pitching.

I get it, but when it comes to the success of the baseball program, I wouldn't mind a little micro-managing. In fact I would mind a little of anything that would be a positive for this team. As someone mentioned earlier, the team seems lackadaisical and just going through the motions. The team needs some kinda managing ....

This year, Tulane is scoring 5.6 runs per game, up from 5.4 runs per game last yr in Jewett's first year; The Oxford regional club scored 5.7 runs per game vs. a slightly weaker overall schedule that year vs. 2018 schedule. (based on RPI and strength of schedule data, conference and non conference via warrennolan.com). This year's schedule btw ranks No. 9 overall in nation for its degree of difficulty.
Batting average during 2015 and 2016 combined: Tulane hit at a .259 clip.
Under Jewett over 107 games, Tulane hitting .264.

PS: As far as Tulane pitchers go, they have also given up almost twice as many Home Runs in the Jewett era compared to 2015/2016 two-year period. So, no matter how speedy the OF defense no one can catch a ball that goes over the fence.
Home runs allowed count...80 under Jewett/Dickinson so far.
2015 plus 2016 only 43 Homers allowed by pitching staff.

PPS: Value of Jake Rogers. In 2015 plus 2016 Rogers allowed only 49 base runners to steal (total for 122 games)
In the Jewett era, opponents have already swiped a total of 137 bases. Wow.
The Wave has stolen 90 bases so under Jewett in 107 games.
In 2015 and 2016, Tulane stole a combined 99 bases on offense. Alemais of course was the leading base thief for us.

The stolen base statistic is so misleading in 2017 given Jeremy got hurt 11 games in and Paul had arm issues and Artigues never caught a game. I would also say they are unfair this year when you add the wildness factor. We have lost games the past two years because we cannot throw it over the plate. Were these pitchers this wild in high school? I don’t get it. These are college pitchers and they must pound the strike zone. Jeremy did not pitch for three years and didn’t walk anyone when he pitched in 2016 (he threw one bullpen a week which probably led to TJ surgery, but that is another story). Bottom line is we must recruit strike throwers. This should never happen at a school like Tulane.

Bingo!

Inheriting great talent that buys-in to the new staff is helpful. As is a staff that makes the transition easy.

Damn intangibles...
