exec summary: will OSU football replay MSU's MBB collapse of several years ago? Nothing about the football team's first game itself until about the eighth paragraph. New angle for the daily Urban deluge.

Re: Tulane vs Ohio State
To be clear, that's New Orleans time. It's 3:30 pm local Columbus time...
Best possible time for me. Don't have to leave at crack of dawn but will get home in time for kids bedtime. Just hoping it isn't 95 degrees. Last year on this exact same weekend I was in Nashville and it was high 90s and humid. A coworker was at Lambeau that same weekend and it was like 93 all the way up there too...

For people that purchased tickets through Tulane, do you have your seat assignment? I'm wondering what section we are in. 8C?
I may be buying additional tickets and would like to get them in the visitor section if possible.
Thanks!

Very long range forecast predicts mild early fall weather (high low 70's dipping by game end in early evening with no rain.) We'll see.

Re: Tulane vs Ohio State
All tickets through Tulane (at least when done online) are Will Call so you won't know where you are sitting until you arrive at the stadium. I already told my wife we are getting to the tailgate the minute it starts (12:30) because we will need to leave quite early to get to the stadium, get through that line, etc., before game time.Johnny4 wrote:For people that purchased tickets through Tulane, do you have your seat assignment? The original email indicated seating would be done based on your points, so I'm guessing they're going to close the window for ordering through them soon, then start organizing seating within our block based on that.

1. I would never trust a weather forecast in Ohio more than 2 days out.Baywave1 wrote:Very long range forecast predicts mild early fall weather (high low 70's dipping by game end in early evening with no rain.) We'll see.
2. It's all even more unknown due to the line of systems barreling across the Atlantic currently. We just spent the last 3 days with temps in the upper 60s and low 70s and getting 5+ inches of rain from Gordon remnants. Prior to Gordon arriving they'd told us we were looking at two weeks of brutal heat.
Long story short, I'm not even looking at weather for that Saturday until around Wednesday the 19th.

I go to Columbus and a hurricane (or remnant of it) will break out. I'll bring my poncho. Meanwhile if I go to Birmingham, I'm channeling my Mediterranean beach side and wearing a speedo. It won't be pretty...….

I was looking back through this thread for something else and saw this post. I'm thinking mother nature doesn't want you in the Appalachians this coming week...BC Wave wrote:Here’s an idea for those with time on their hands, like me:
Go to the UAB game, spend a few days in the Appalachains, get to Columbus by Thursday , see the Ohio St. Game.

I ALMOST worked out a plan to go to game.. still haven't completely quit trying. Wife is in San Diego that weekend, so my daughter and I can pretty much do whatever the fudge we want... so it may be a trip to Columbus... still thinking it over.

I'm sure a life long memory of a road trip with dad is a bit more important than a day of primary school, just sayingJohnny Mac wrote:it could still happen.. but I'd have to pull her out of school on Fridaywindywave wrote:Road tripJohnny Mac wrote:I ALMOST worked out a plan to go to game.. still haven't completely quit trying. A year ago on that same weekend I pulled my 2nd grade daughter and kindergarten son out to go to a music festival. Surely one day to "visit an iconic and historic venue" is a worthwhile educational trip....Johnny Mac wrote:it could still happen.. but I'd have to pull her out of school on Fridaywindywave wrote:Road tripJohnny Mac wrote:I ALMOST worked out a plan to go to game.. still haven't completely quit trying. In the waiting room at the dentist awaiting my appointment listening to the hygienist laugh st my wife for mentioning the Tulane vs Ohio state game. “They’re gonna get murdered”. #Classy

That sentiment would apply to about 90% of the teams in FBS, which will make our victory that much sweeterWaveProf wrote:In the waiting room at the dentist awaiting my appointment listening to the hygienist laugh st my wife for mentioning the Tulane vs Ohio state game. “They’re gonna get murdered”. #Classy

Hey DrHullabaloo. Curious about your take on this, because my wife is beside-herself-furious and thinks this is ridiculously overdone.

Re: Tulane vs Ohio State
Pete, That’s crazy. The worst part is that the “approved” sized clear PVC stadium purses are 6x8.
I own one for saints games and pretty sure it’s not 5”, definitely at least 6”
And the weather says rain so you gotta pack a poncho somewhere.

Coats are allowed. My wife is planning on bringing her raincoat and stuffing the large pockets with her things. Besides, if Florence keeps the revised track, we might be paying in her remnants anyway...DrHullabaloo wrote:Pete, That’s crazy. For everyone else attending, I recommend you thoroughly read the gameday link I posted above. There are a lot of restrictions and you don't want to get all the way to the stadium and have to take stuff back to your car.

Re: Tulane vs Ohio State
We were reading the same restrictions, and while we agree the rules are too harsh (and I think you should be able to bring a bag), it did leave my wife to ask, what exactly is it that people feel they "need" to bring to games in the first place?!? I don't think its that big of a deal. BUT I do think the whole plastic purse thing is silly, and a plastic wristlet even moreso. And it doesn't help that OSU started selling high end ($80) buckey wristlets from a designer label the same season they started requiring wristlets.....

184 people signed up for the Tulane Tailgate at OSU. Not bad. Other than Pete and the Van Hoosers, who else from YOGWF is attending the tailgate? Looking forward to it. Roll Wave!!!

I wonder if those paying $$$ to make the trip are feeling really great right now
