D1 Baseball has a list of draft eligible pitchers and Kaleb Roper is ranked as the 180th Div. 1 pitcher. That seems to indicate they see him as a later round pick.
Shawn Chandler, the Iowa Western Community College Tulane recruit, is ranked pretty high as perhaps a 5th or 6th round draft choice in D1 Baseball's eyes. He is just outside the Top 100 college and jr. college players on their Top 200 list.
guess we will have to see how Daniel Latham's arrival affects the signability of these two guys. Roper, in particular, seems as if he could benefit from a full year under Latham's tutelage to improve his MLB stock.
Grant Witherspoon by the way is ranked as perhaps a 3rd round draft choice by D1....the 45th best college player on their list.

Kody Hoese is draft eligible. Given how he projects, wouldn’t be surprised if someone takes a shot provided the offer is enough.

I thought Hoese was 20 years and 10 months old at the moment.

I thought he made 21 before the cut off. May be wrong.

Having Hoese another year would be ideal.

I believe the rule is that if a player turns 21 within 40 days of the draft, he would be draft eligible.

I don't know that I see Roper getting drafted high, not like Tony Rizotti who was injured a lot but pretty good when he actually pitched. Roper was way too inconsistent.

hopefully with Latham on board, we can recruit some pitchers and improve the guys we have. the American was good this year and seems to be getting stronger every year and what I like is that all of the members seem to be challenging themselves OOC. we had a great schedule this year, just didn't have a team capable of making it enjoyable.

double checked and the rule -- at least for the 2016 draft and the article I read about it said so -- is if your 21st birth date is within 45 days of the draft a player is eligible to be picked. Of course, you could wait til end of jr. year and still have just as much leverage also.

I think Hoese is barely eligible for the draft. His offensive production this year was much improved. His power numbers were just okay and his defense still leaves something to be desired. For a corner infielder, I'd want to see more pop and a better glove to warrant a high pick. I think that is what is going to keep him from getting a 6 figure bonus this year. If he comes back and has a plus .300 year with 10 or more homers, slugs over .500 and makes fewer errors (especially playing most games on turf), he could be a 4th-5th round type guy.
