Writer Bruce Feldman is tweeting that very recently former LSU QB Justin McMillan is strongly considering Tulane.

LSU blocks QB Justin McMillan from transferring to SEC schools, others it plays over the next two years

LSU has boxed him in a bit.

Same thing, just providing a link.

For some reason the SEC allows it’s schools to block grad transfers from moving to league schools (they say that will change soon).

the new NCAA(?) rule goes into effect on Oct 15th, at which point they couldn't block where he moved.

It's just going to turn into a PR mess for Orgeron and they're going to concede and let him go where he wants.

This. Especially since EO has too many other PR messes going on at the same time.

The only hope is that this gives us a chance to get McMillan's ear, and we take advantage of it

Was just coming to post the same thing. I suppose this late in the game he would be hard pressed to land a starting role at any school so it could be a good opportunity for him and well have another body there for a year.

I was just informed he has 2 years not 1. If true, he could back Banks up and compete to be starter next year.

The ONLY hope? Who do you think this kid is? We’re one of his best chances in his backyard to be relevant at this level.

LG---I think that he had a clear landing spot with someone in the SEC, that he must have prefered if given open choices. I say only hope, because I anticipate him being un-blocked any day, but out hope is that this chance to get his ear, and say just what you are saying, may make him want to come here over his original destination

I don't know anything about this kid, but odd looking recruiting profile. Seemed to be a 2/3 star recruit with only other offers from ark state and unlv and pulled a LSU offer and jumped at it.

Right. That said Howard has one more year than McMillan to play.

Classes start next Monday.

Most state schools in the south started this week, though many state schools in the midwest and northeast start as late or later than Tulane

LSU was recruiting a HS teammate and decided to take him to fill a slot at QB.

LSU has boxed him in a bit.

When I first read this I thought it was wrong because it’s an sec rule preventing him from going to an sec school. The Advocate has since retracted the story.

FW, Thanks for finding this. Yes it would be massively ironical especially in light of this quote from the Advocate article linked above:

The new SEC transfer rule was sponsored by the University of Missouri, and LSU coach Ed Orgeron expressed his dissent.
"I think if a kid's going to play in another conference, it's fair," Orgeron said. "I'd hate to see one of our guys go to our (SEC) opponents. I don't think it's in the spirit of the sport."

This is too rich for words. I'm rooting for Fritz to land McMillan just so Ed The O can nominate Tulane for an ESPY for superior sportsmanship during the dog days of August.

A coworker told me the BR radio guys were talking like this is a done deal.

Our QB position is slowly turning into the Island of Misfit Toys

While we have a pause in the action, I nominate the Advocate editor who wrote this headline for the scatological truth of the year. Perhaps I will need to go the Tiger Droppings site to learn if they are purple or gold or even both? Meanwhile it does not require reflection to agree that it is a "treasure trove" for those guys.....

https://www.theadvocate.com/new_orleans ... 5eace.html

UPDATE: I must not have been the only one who noticed, they now have added the crucial adjective "bar".......

I don’t think he’s allowed to comment but: Video: Fritz has “no comment” on possible transfer of Ex-LSU QB McMillian to Tulane
