We've seen the team. Season predictions anyone?
Wake Loss
NSU Win We beat them on the line and win handily
UAB Win I think we get them at a good spot. If we can run the ball and we should. We will win this one.
OSU Loss we get dominated on the line, turn the ball over and look bad
Memphis Loss we hang close for a bit but Memphis pulls away
Cincinnati Loss we get shut down and lose a close one
SMU Win we come out blazing and dominate on the offensive side running the football
Tulsa Loss [/color] we come out flat and tulsa pulls it out
USF Win we play inspired and pull off an upset
ECU Win we win the line of scrimmage and the game against a team that has nothing to play for
Houston Loss Houston plays inspired and beats us easily
Navy Win we push and get that 6th win this year.
6-6
Our Defense looks good. It will keep us in games and be the strength this year. If we can get some Defensive TDs then we have a chance to win 7 or 8. If we don't get as many turnovers then we won't have a winning record.
Our Offense will be no better than last year. If the opponent can get a little pass rush and defend the run we won't have much success. Unlike last year we won't have Hilliard to hit some home runs.
Our Special teams wills make a positive difference and be the winning factor in a game this year. That will get us to six wins.

8-4. It's what I predicted at the beginning and I'm sticking to my guns. I thought one of those 4 losses was Wake and we played them close, so I don't have a reason to alter my prediction for now. Just need to take care of business this week.

Where I disagree with you is that we'll win either the Cincy or Tulsa game. After WFU, probably not both, but one or the other. Like outlaw, I predicted 7-5 or 8-4 before the season and I've seen nothing to change that opinion, except for the fact that we'll end up on the low side of that prediction.
Plan your work, work your plan.

Cincy is young... 2nd youngest team in D1.. they beat the youngest team last Saturday. I honestly think that was more of a Chip Kelly fail than a Cincy accomplishment. Young team means little to no depth... by the time we play them, key players will be dinged up. I think we do well against them.
We beat Tulsa.. no question.. hands down.

Yes. They don't look all that imposing and did not look good week 1. Of those three games, we'll win two of them, let me say that. But the offense has to improve for that to happen.Poseidon wrote:You see us Winning USF as well?Rotorooter wrote:Where I disagree with you is that we'll win either the Cincy or Tulsa game. Wake Loss
NSU Win
UAB Win
OSU Loss
Memphis Loss
Cincinnati Win
SMU Win
Tulsa Win
USF Loss
ECU Win
Houston Win
Navy Win
And fwiw, I can just as easily see a world in which we beat USF and lose to Houston. I consider those a toss up at this point. We'll know more after UAB, imo.

I took the over on 5.5 so I really don't care about the combination

Since one of my 8 wins is now a loss I’ll revise to 7-5.

hope I'm wrong but I just didn't see enough improvement where I thought I would.

Re: We've seen the team. Season predictions anyone?
Well thinking back to the first games of WF's tenure:
- 2016. At Wake held them to 175 yards. Yes 175. With a marginal QB we got in Wake territory three times in the 4th quarter (twice 1st and 10 from the 21) and got no points. After the p00p show of prior coach regime I was overjoyed at the preparation, organization and getting the most out of limited talent.
- 2017. Grambling. Badly outplayed a decent team that had won 11 games the year B4 - and went on another 11 game win streak after us. Held them to 225 while gaining 485. Not even close. Looked polished and physical.
So this year is a step back for me. 2018 Wake is by far the best of the three teams, but the lack of points in opponents territory, no TEs, no using RBs in space, etc is beginning to make me wonder if the Wave is getting in the habit of beating the Wave.
Nicholls should be a decisive win. 20+ points. I don't dare to think about any game after that.

I said 7-5 before the season but after last Thursday I'm going with 4-8.
We'll beat Nicholls, Tulsa, SMU, and ECU.
Sorry, but I was very disappointed by what I saw in the Wake Forest game. I just don't see a whole lot of "P6" talent on this team.

I see wins against Nicholls, SMU, ECU, and Cincy.
We should beat Tulsa, but we won't, not on the road when they have blood in their eye. And they will. We don't have better talent than they.
I thought we'd go bowling if we beat Wake. Well, . . .

Tulsa is horrible. I can't really imagine us losing to Tulsa, ECU, or SMU. Nicholls I am pretty confident in a W. Cincinnati I think we win. That's 5 right there. And I think we pick up 1-2 more besides that.

I was one of the low predictions on this thread and I may have been generous. GB had 4-5 wins which now seems a long putt.TUPF wrote:5-7. If we grow a pair, 7-5.

I’m still fairly confident we beat Tulsa, SMU, and ECU. Cincy on the road though? Navy? Possible but I wouldn’t bet on either, much less both.
