Are we gonna be outcheered by Nicholls fans tonight?

Post by Fan Since '54 »

I understand that the Nichols fans have bought out their whole allotment of tickets for the visiting fans in the North Endzone stands. And they have also purchased a whole bunch on the west side of the stadium. They are obviously gonna be a loud bunch. Last few years several visiting teams brought bunches of their fans to the Big Easy...Southern, Grambiling UL-Lafayette and Houston come to mind. And those fans screamed their lungs out. But those teams also left the Big Easy without a win. We need to make our home field a hard place to play. We know the volume from the South Endzone will deminish in the second half though, and that is where the rest of us will have to take up the slack. In any case I would expect it would be difficult, but not impossible to out cheer the NSU fans. So bring your vocal chords tonight and make it tough for the visitors to get anything going. Roll Wave.

Your choice of subject matter the last few days is, let's say, interesting and makes one yearn for the juju thread.

Regardless the short answer to your question is no. It's hard to make loud noise for a team losing a football game.

Meanwhile I'm glad NSU will bring a good contingent to the game. Always fun to play your neighbor.

This

Do you expect a good turn out. Student government association is running buses, and the university president opened his fall address to faculty encouraging them to go to the game

Short answer, no. They may be louder in the beginning but mostly sitting on their hands by half time.

Yes. TU has library fans even when they are there and team doing well. Mix in a small TU crowd and a big, enthused Nicholls crowd....

1. If you lived in Thibodaux, would you want to stay there?
2. There are probably more Nicholls alums in New Orleans than Tulane

If the posts by parents of freshman this past week are correct, we should expect a better turnout of frosh who skipped out last week due to weather. It sounded like they were looking for a chance to tailgate and go to the game to get the full experience but rain and it being a Thursday night caused many to ditch the plans (first week of college, might not know whether you can skip Friday class or not).

Hey, I made chicken sauce piquant and brought beer jerked from Bourgeois’ in Thibodaux. I’m happy even if the quad is red.

Anyway, I know that camera angles are a factor, but I saw a lot more green in the stands than red.

Agree, would be curious to hear from those who were there in person. It looked like a decent turnout in green.
