Bay, what source is telling you hot and humid in Birmingham? If you are looking at weather.com (in general, don't), it appears they haven't even bothered to jive their national hurricane data with their local predictions. They show Birmingham as hot and sunny but at the same time their hurricane section is showing rain over Birmingham late this week into the weekend.

Our local weather folks here say there's supposed to be a front running up the whole country (basically parallel to the Appalachians but further west) that is expected to block a lot of the hurricane moisture from going far west, but various sources seem to differ on how far east that front will be when the storm meets it. Also, (as we Tulanians know) the storm spinning counter clockwise helps bring down air from the north out to the west of the rotation (typically), so that might pull cooler air down.

If you trust weather.com (I generally don't), the end of their latest hurricane cone shows "Saturday am" and is showing Alabama getting rain from the system (though the very absolute west edge of it).
