This is funny. Memphis fans are probably thinking the same, only..."The only thing learned from the Tulane game is how the hell did that happen."tjtlja wrote:The only thing learned from the Memphis game is how the hell did that happen.

But I did come ahead at the Blackjack table on our cruise. Only game I play in the casino. You don't have any control of the little white ball at the roulette wheel. You don't have any control of the dice at the craps table. You certainly don't have any control of the slot machines. And blackjack is the only game in the casino that you have a smidgen of control over. Basic strategy is the key, which allows you to lower the casino's advantage to 1/2 of 1%. But even more important is having a money management strategy. 7 out of the last 8 times I have played I have come out on the + side playing blackjack. and I am on the plus side of the ledger in those 8 tries. And that is all the times I have played this year so there is no addictive behavior involved. Since I was once a dealer, I know what to do, what not to do, and more important, when to quit for that session. And I could teach anyone how to do this. So next time you are in town TUPF...TUPF wrote:That reminds me. I haven’t wasted a dollar on a lottery ticket yet.waverider wrote:Maybe Tulsa talks about revenge all week
Seriously though I could see us winning this one going away unless the team has given up, which doesn’t seem to be an issue under Fritz so far.
If we win at Tulsa I think we will win at home against ECU. We’d have to win another road game with USF being our better chance. If we have 5 wins I see us beating Navy to end the season.

Nope. I think I may have put about 10 quarters in a slot machine once when I was in Las Vegas for business (Creech AFB). I won $5, took my 20 quarters never to repeat.

But sometimes, someone does... The all-inclusive where I went on my honeymoon had a casino, a little thing built and run by the resort folks, with surely no governmental oversight (it was the Dominican Republic). I watched the little white ball hit 00 about 8 times in less than a 5 minute span. Then several of us started putting money on 00 every spin and miraculously it stopped hitting 00.Fan Since '54 wrote:You don't have any control of the little white ball at the roulette wheel.

Not true windy. Like I said it is the blackjack table. I searched "best odds at casino table games", and I stopped reading after the first 4 said blackjack.windywave wrote:Best odds in the casino are at the craps table.Fan Since '54 wrote:But I did come ahead at the Blackjack table on our cruise. Then do explain to me how I have won 8 out of the last 9 times I went to the black jack table (in a three month time period) and am approximately $200-$250 ahead in those times. I admit I do leave the Blackjack tables down for the attempt. But the times I am ahead usually outweigh the times I am down by at least 3-1. C'mon tell me how. You can't....period.

Yes, I can. You have been lucky. Even you admitted the house has the edge, even when the player is playing perfect basic strategy. In the long run, you will end up losing.Fan Since '54 wrote:Then do explain to me how I have won 8 out of the last 9 times I went to the black jack table (in a three month time period) and am approximately $200-$250 ahead in those times. <snip> C'mon tell me how. That statement was made because I used to play blackjack all the time in Lake Charles (lived in Houston at the time). Frequently at the $50 ante tables. I too ended up ahead, before I quit for good (I was just lucky, even though I played perfect basic strategy). In the mid 1990's I wrote a computer program to play blackjack (dealer hits 16, sticks 17 and the player plays perfect basic strategy). Though there were several blackjack games available to download from the internet, I wrote my own so that I knew it was correct in all facets of the game. I ran the program for weeks straight. The house was leading after billions of iterations. I quit playing blackjack at casinos when I realized that winning was only because you are lucky. I am generally not lucky at gambling, so I don't gamble money any longer.
Point being - house has the edge - only luck puts one on the winning side. You can talk craap all you want, but your measly $250 ahead is nothing. That is 5 minutes at the table.
Do they still allow smoking in casinos? Though I smoked cigarettes at the time, I could barely stand being in the casino because of all the smoke.

Clearly there is some kind of juju balance that '54 is manipulating for his gambling purposes. He starts juju threads for the football team to "help" all while reaping the actual benefits at the blackjack tables.ml wave wrote:Obviously you remain completely unbothered/unaffected by the carnage left in your wake. First of all I don't play that often and don't just use "basic strategy". I do use it but it is not the most important strategy to use in blackjack. The most important strategy is "money management". I buy in at 10 minimum bets and when that is gone, so am I. But that is not all of the strategy I use. If I get up 1/2 of that I color up and put it in my pocket. I continue to use that if/when I get up another $25. At that point, every time I get up another hand's worth, it goes in my pocket. The only time I take any out of my pocket is if I am on my last hand's worth and I want to split/double. If I lose, I'm gone with my meager total. Or...OR, I continue playing until I am tired of playing. This way I limit my losses to my original buy-in, but more important, I don't limit how much I can win...until I get tired or hungry.. And I am not addicted to gambling (I learned that being a dealer, when I was dealing in high limit and a guy wrote $70,000 worth of checks and went home empty handed). I go months without playing and don't allow myself to gamble in New Orleans (home). I would say it's been years since I didn't come out ahead for the year. Works for me.

1) I reject your claim out of hand. Here is your Webster's definition: one who is habitually cruel, insulting, or threatening to others who are weaker, smaller, or in some way vulnerable First, you are the one with all the power in this dynamic (see our W-L record). Further, only one of us is habitually cruel (bringing juju threads back, insisting that you and only you start them so you can have your "thunder", etc.), insulting (calling me a bully) and threatening (holding juju threads over our heads like the sword of Damocles in an attempt to make some sort of Faustian bargain with me)...if you are truly concerned with bullying, I suggest you take a hard look in the mirror.Fan Since '54 wrote:1) I am not calling you names, just what you are. You absolutely fit the MO. Check your Websters. Do you really think that definition doesn't fit?ml wave wrote:A) Name calling is against the rules of this forum, though since you so flagrantly disregard the entire spirit of the forum which is to support Tulane University, I'm not surprised you have no concern for the rules either.Fan Since '54 wrote:Bully!!ml wave wrote:Maliciously selling us out for personal gain? The rest of us, on the other hand, are miserable with all the losing. I admit I do leave the Blackjack tables down for the attempt. But the times I am ahead usually outweigh the times I am down by at least 3-1. C'mon tell me how. You can't....period.ml wave wrote:Smart man...there's no way gambling with '54 could end any other way than bankruptcy.
BTW ml, how come you never grew out of your bullying years. Because you and at least one other here still exhibit those traits.

2) While I am only one man, I am willing to fight for what I believe, which is that Tulane University should have a good football team. I am willing to accept the consequences of this fight, be it bad juju, name calling, or other. I shall not be broken!
2) I too am only one man, and am fighting for what I believe, which is for Tulane to have a good (or better) football team. And what I do to support that belief, has absolutely no consequences as to the outcome of the games. If you think that, then you are sadly mistaken. I TOO SHALL NOT BE BROKEN!!!
3) When I first saw your moniker years ago, I thought is was neat. I knew someone from a long time ago who worked in sports @ Tulane who lived across the street from me. You're gonna probably recognize the name. ML Legarde. No similarity between that ML and you.

B) The evidence to counter your laughable claim is both legion and infallible.
I would like you to show me a "juju" thread created this year that was not a joke. Oh, that's right, you can't take a joke. In any case. you can't show me one, because there aren't any.
Okay, what is it you don't understand about the threads I post. There is absolutely no power I have in those threads. If you believe that then your are ___ber than anyone could have ever imagined. BTW, you quoted the rules to me a while back and then you go ahead and break them.

FWIW, we should not overlook Theodore Roosevelt's use of "Bully!" as an exclamation of commendation.
Bully for you.
Before it came to mean somebody who picks on a weaker person, it had a positive connotation as a particularly likeable fellow.
