Good Vibrations for game 10...East Carolina
Homecoming weekend. Not good for the Wave in recent years. So we will go back to another blast from the past...Max McGee. Max was the game MVP for what was later to called the Super Bowl for the first time 2 years later. But was not that day. It was the NFL-AFL Championship. And sadly Max has now passed. But let's use an image of him (from a Post cereal football card and in a Packer uni) to help vault the Wave to a .500 record with two games remaining. Post your images to help make for a successful Homecoming. Roll Wave...Beat the Pirates.

Should have been the MVP. Bart Starr was officially. In true Tulane fashion, played with a hangover after being out all night. First person to score a TD in the Super Bowl was a Tulanian.Fan Since '54 wrote:Homecoming weekend. Not good for the Wave in recent years. You're right rotorooter. Starr was the MVP. Maybe I was thinking about the 1st TD in SB history. But that game, on game day, was not a Super Bowl.

Those Post cereal cards are tough to find in this day and age. They had baseball & football cards which had to be cut out of the box. The one in the image seems to be a good one....well cut. Roll Wave, we need to get a win on Homecoming. Let's get to .500 on the season and see what happens from there.

After Max retired he was part of a 2 man radio broadcasting team for The Packers. Lots of laughs. The Pack after he, Bart Starr, & Jim Taylor all retired & before Brett Favre arrived, I think Max kept at least the radio listeners in the fandom, cause they were BAD. He's part of Packer lore for sure.Fan Since '54 wrote:Homecoming weekend. Not good for the Wave in recent years. So we will go back to another blast from the past...Max McGee. Max was also co-founder of Chi-Chi's Mexican Restaurant chain. I often used to go to the Chi-Chi's in Fairfax, VA.
The chain is now defunct in the US and Canada but is still operating in Belgium and some Middle Eastern countries.

So, basically, chi chis has managed to survive in locations that know even less about Mexican food than the continental US does? That somehow makes total sense

Hey, I’ve seen KFC and Hard Rock Cafes in Beijing, and Dunkin‘ Donuts or whatever they call themselves now in Manila, so there’s that.

Perhaps in Dubai, they consider it "American Food."

Virtually no discussion about this game on the ECU board.

I think he's saying the ECU board is dead and/or talking about other stuff rather than the game Saturday.AO Sig wrote:TU77CAL82 wrote:Virtually no discussion about this game on the ECU board.

Well they are 0-5 in conference and 2-6 overall. Probably threw in the towel on their Pirates football for '18.

I know their fans are hoping for Montgomery to be gone after this season. I remember when ECU hired him from Duke. My brother is a Duke alum and huge Duke sports fan. He was ecstatic Montgomery would no longer pace Duke's sidelines.

Well, while I have been perusing the net for some time this afternoon, I never knew that site existed until I saw it posted here. Just a few minutes ago.
Be aware that there are only two people who would post that on this thread. 1) The one who posted it here on this forum or some other JA named ml ----.

If '54 starts good juju threads on other sites, does that offset the good juju here? Did anyone check the USF or Memphis boards to see if he did the same thing?PeteRasche wrote:Wait, what?WaveProf wrote:Interesting. Curious.

No pics for this post. Just a idea. The best "good vibrations" for this homecoming game will come in the form of a filled stadium of Green & Blue.
