The players -

SR Justin McMillan
RS FR Christian Daniels
JR Keon Howard
RS SO Dane Ledford

We all know the depth chart with this group. Let the passing begin.

Howard is going to be your starting QB next year. He won't pass for 65%, but he is definitely better than McMillan. Daniels was offered by all 3 of the service academies to run the option. I bet he will eventually switch positions for y'all.

says a guy whose coach thought it was a good idea to hire Art Briles  ... McMillan will not be supplanted by Howard unless injured. Daniels will not move from QB. Just look at the numbers there... can't afford to move him from the 3 deep.

Our new OC will have McMillan humming on all cylinders this spring.. and I don't disagree that Howard has skills, McMillan has to really screw up to lose that job at this point.

From everything I’ve read it sounds like Howard can run the read option stuff pretty well. If he isn’t as good (or better) passer than McMillan he won’t be starting. I could see him being used a good bit to add a better option element though McMillan looked really good with the read option and play action stuff at times. If Howard hasn’t cured the fumble problems he reportedly had at USM he won’t play much at all.

Fritz enters the spring with at least some depth at the top. If Howard earns playing time, great, as I'm guessing McMillan is poised to do some good things. 95%+ of all football teams usually face a dramatic drop-off from first string to third string at any position including QB.

I don't think Daniels has ever been an option QB. In fact I remember reading last spring that he was having to learn how to pitch, etc. because it was new to him.

If he grows into a functional QB for us great. If not hopefully he can contribute somewhere else.
