Great start to the season at 7-2. Long way to go yet, but it's a lot easier to make a post season run when you start well rather than starting poorly and playing catch up the whole season.

Looking at this weekend, we really need a sweep. Army is ranked decently in RPI at 68, but Dartmouth (221) and St. Joe's (272) are definitely going to drop our RPI, win or lose. Since we draw Army on Sunday, is there any chance we'll shift the pitching rotation around? Maybe throw Solesky to start the weekend and save Roper for Army?

Army isn't terrible. At least by looking at their schedule and stats. They almost beat that school in Red Stick.

Army will be competitive but the first test will be whether we can avoid the trap of taking teams, that we feel we should beat, for granted and not play up to our competitive level. Coming home @ 10-2 would be a good way to roll into a weekend series with UCSB, but first things first.

Typically, a school like Army has one really good SP then some drop off. We should be avoiding their friday night guy

I'd vote no to that since you'd either have to bring him back on shorter than normal rest next weekend. No reason to be doing that to him in early March

This is the best we could do for a tournament? Travelling to an off campus site to play northern RPIs killers? Is there some kind of quid pro quo with USA Baseball that I'm missing?

:dots: Why wait until now to gripe about this? It's far from ideal but the schedule has been out for awhile now. All the team can do is try and win the games in front of them.

Also, we will be Army's 4th game of the weekend. They play two on Friday (St. Joe's/Fairleigh Dickenson).

Check that, the Army website says they play four games: St. Joe's/FD on Friday; Dartmouth on Saturday; Wave on Sunday. But the tournament schedule doesn't show that Dartmouth game.

I'm glad we at least drew Army. FD is in the mid 240s RPI wise so if we had gotten them instead of Army this would be even worse of an RPI drag. I'm hopeful we can pull 3-0.

yeah, the fact that WE'VE been RPI killers thet past few years and should probably drop that level of conceit you think we should have.

Just announced on Twitter the game is being moved up to 1 PM CST tomorrow. Sigh, will now be missing it due to a Mardi gtas lunch. Rats

We arent good enough to play a killer schedule. We just had 10 team in country. I think our schedule is nicely balanced.

I know that personnel match-ups are a major skill for any coach, but if we're going to be National Champions at the end of the year, we need to be confident in throwing any of our pitchers against any opponent.

Per weather channel forecast, higher probability of rain starts around 2 and increases during the day.

I wish they would move first pitch to 12 or even better, 11

why are we playing a baseball tournament up North this time of years? Don't northern teams typically travel South because the weather is so bad up there?

Last time I checked North Carolina was in the South. Just because it say North Carolina doesn't mean it's in the North. LOL.....The weather there this time of year is not really bad. Just so happens the area is catching rain storms.

I'm sure he was assuming we were at Army?

Again, not advanced enough.

They could get two in tomorrow I think.

Only playing army would actually help RPI, no?

I believe that is correct.

Playing more games helps the team develop, no?

BTW
From what I can tell, there’s no streaming, video or audio this weekend so 88.3 Friday and Sunday and 1280 am Saturday (this May have been posted already)

Rick Jones in the radio booth for today's game on WRBH; making some interesting comments about his days as coach of USA National Team; says Nick Pepitone -- Wave's one-time closer -- was a star the year Rick was skipper there for USA.
