not sure how anyone, anywhere would consider the Wave a favorite against any division 1 team right now.. East Carolina has been a dumpster fire since they smoked us in Greenville and of course, they are playing lights out tonight

another dumpster fire in Devlin... decent defensive rebounding first half not carried over to the 2nd... ECU has scored on every trip this half

honestly think whomever at ESPN that put Tulane down as having a 72.6 win probability today should lose their job

Lose again, 81-67.

We can’t shoot, can’t rebound, can’t defend. I’m so sick of all the three point shooting. That’s all we do is shoot threes. I hate the three point line. No inside game. Thompson played his tail off. Lawson had a good game. The rest of the team did nothing. Hightower is so bad and he gets all the minutes. Unless Hunter can find some good players in the spring we won’t be any better next year. We don’t look well coached. We probably won’t win another game this year. Very concerned with this program!

If we don't get the Temple game (which, don't let their OT win today fool you, they are really bad), that's our last chance

that was the difference early on in the 2nd half.. ECU wasn't big with 2nd chance points in the first half.. we rebounded well for 2020 Tulane MBB standards in the first half... but their second chance points in the first 6 minutes or so of the 2nd half put us behind by more than we were going to overcome. Then, the team was totally gassed in the final minutes allowing easy basket after easy basket, with a few lazy "and ones" sprinkled in.

Walker did not play any meaningful minutes in the 2nd half

Again, this team died by the 3

I don’t understand all the 3 point attempts. We need to look at the tapes from the first 4 conference games, even the two we lost. We weren’t jacking it up like this. Hunter was preaching ball movement and getting to the line. The 3 point shots were in the rhythm of the offense. Now we just chuck them up. 34 three point attempts in a game is absurd. You don’t get to the line, get players in foul trouble and the misses lead to easier shots at the other end when you do that. We don’t get any offensive rebounds to make up for all the misses.

I was all in on Hunter and I’m not sure what has happened. He isn’t the same coach he was a month ago.

I guess we are now officially the worst team in the league again. How many years in a row does this make . His defense that he has had success with over the years is just awful. The offense is just as bad. Hate to say it but this looks like a poorly coached team. Hope that he can get better players to make his systems work, but at this time this is painful to watch. rjc

...Tulane lost by double digits for the seventh consecutive time, something that had not happened since 1969-70.

“Very seldom am I at a loss for words,” coach Ron Hunter said. “It seems like when I fix one leak, another one happens.”

I know the team has assorted weaknesses, and teams have figured out whatever we did well in December etc., etc.. Nevertheless, the play is deteriorating game after game, we are not competitive in any game. We've seen such tanking before in various sports and way too often, but never really in year 1. And I can't say I've ever seen a recovery from it.

Please elaborate for those of us who don't get to go. Is it effort?

I'm just a lay observer from the stands so this is just an interested fan's view. Team is dead tired. At one point, late in the game I thought Thompson was going to hurl on the scorer's table, he was so exhausted.

I get Hunter's frenetic pace/pants on fire offense and defense. I'm all for it. I don't get not using your bench especially since the team has been practicing hard since June 1st and not October 15th as in the old days.

Loose hockey analogy: NHL teams have four offensive lines and three+ are rotated regularly. Your best players may get some extra time for penalty play and the like but max time on ice for even your best offensive players in non-OT games is generally not over 24 minutes or so out of 60 and never over 30 for your best defensive players (who presumably skate a little less intensely.) The third line guys play a lot. The fourth line guys usually get noticeable minutes.

Yes the starters are generally world's better than the fourth line guys but the latter still play because the intense game pace demands it if you want your starters to be competitive at game's and season's end.

Separate point: Team did not stay on floor for post-game Alma Mater. Not a good look.

were there any fans left there to actually see that... I mean besides you?

I saw a camera angle at one point in the second half and it showed the student section maybe 50% full and vast swaths of empty seats.. I understand this team has not earned the support of the casual fan... but Devlin was a ghost town

I wonder if this is at all tied with having a collection mostly of one and dones. Not looking to long term success so when things go south like it has, the mindset says I’ll be out of here in a few weeks anyway.

Sing the alma mater? Pfft. I’m just passing through.
