Re: A.jONES LEAVING
Could be looking to play a season closer to home. Could it mean Huderson is coming back?

Something seems off.
I am not shocked. He didnt have as good of a year this year. He wasnt fielding punts or kickoffs like 2019 IIRC. He wasnt used at receiver much and got less than 1/3 of the load at RB.

Re: A.jONES LEAVING
My impression for this season was that he was overall used less than he might have been, so it is possible that he thinks he was unfairly underutilized -- his nose is a little out of joint.
Re: A.jONES LEAVING
Yeah no bowl for him. More PT for YGB if he is healthy hopefully.krewe of ham and eggs wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 1:37 pm He's in there

Yikes. Need backs more than anything now.
The gap between the top of the big leagues and their bottom is now bigger than the gap between their bottom and us - P.R. told me to do this

don't be too worried... with the open frontier for transfers this offseason, we will be fine

Re: A.jONES LEAVING
We signed a talented RB. Celestine. I actually thing we have enough backs but Jones is a good player. Would love to find out what happened.
Re: A.jONES LEAVING
A healthy Spears and Huderson would be a start for next year. Jones was here three years. It may be about being replaced as punt returner but his replacement played better. He's a talented guy. I'm sure he wants more playing time like all his teammates do. I wish him well. I hope he leaves with a degree.

Re: A.jONES LEAVING
We need another HS signee and probably a transfer. We can't be sure about Spears yet. I can think of one locally connected guy right now in the portal.

Re: A.jONES LEAVING
Last night I was talking about the portal. I think we probably lose 5-7 guys. This will be annual occurrence. It happens everywhere.

Re: A.jONES LEAVING
Amare had 400 rushing yards and 14 catches this season... 2 rushing TDs... the 2 TDs were a normal game for him in the past... I am certain it was all about how much he was being used... I doubt he follows Will Hall to USM, that's for sure.

Re: A.jONES LEAVING
Now more than ever coaches have to have a backup plan for personnel (and coaches). That's always been the case for coaches but with players moving around much easier you have to believe all kids are free agents.
After you've been on fire under Arctic pack ice everything else is a walk in the park.

every player gets a free transfer this year.. if we ONLY lose 5, it will be a "win"

Re: A.jONES LEAVING
Yep and to be clear the majority of guys leaving won't be big contributors. That's not to say they aren't talented, just that for whatever reason they didn't fit in the program they signed with. Losing bunches of productive players isn't the norm.

Re: A.jONES LEAVING
This leaves us with only 2 RB's for the Bowl game.
Re: A.jONES LEAVING
I assume he just made the decision because timing is odd. However opting out now keeps him healthy and attractive as a transfer candidate. One misstep next week like Spears or Dauphine had and he's "stuck" at Tulane. I doubt he needs to buff up his Tulane highlight reel anymore. Man he was awesome at Cure Bowl and his 4q KO return against Tulsa put us in a position to win that game. I'll miss him.
Re: A.jONES LEAVING
"This leaves us with only 2 RB's for the Bowl game." Experienced RBs. We have other RBs. And, apropos of RBs, I hope that the new OC does not repeat the occasional misuse of Cameron C. by calling a play for him to run laterally. Not his forte. He is N-S. I saw him too many times not being able to turn the corner.
Re: A.jONES LEAVING
It has nothing to do with Hall leaving
Re: A.jONES LEAVING
My guess is somewhere in Texas.
If he felt underutilized under Hall this year he isn’t going to follow him to be underutilized at USM
