Gayle Letulle, 1947-2022

Unread post by Tito »

Gayle Letulle, the long-time statistician and historian for Tulane athletics, passed away late last night after a brief illness.

Gayle was the official statistician for Tulane football, basketball and baseball for more than 50 years. He was inducted into the Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010, and received the Billy Slatten Award for his service to the university.

Arrangements are pending.

I am pretty sure I’ve met him. I’d have to see his picture to know if it’s who I’m thinking of.

I knew Gayle since the early 80s when I was working in SID and he was on the stat crew. A great loss.

They did a nice piece on Gayle at halftime of our demolition of Tulsa on ESPNU.
