Re: WAVE opener big in Vegas
UMass was one of the three worst teams nationally last year. I wouldn't touch that line because we weren't great either, but it should not be close.
Re: WAVE opener big in Vegas
The conference released start times and TV for the first three games. All three games, including K-State are on ESPN+. No surprise about UMass and Alcorn, but I thought we'd do better with K-State. The two home games, unsurprisingly are at 7:00pm. K-State at 3:00 pm.

Don't forget the lesson we learned about the viewership interest in Big 12 programs not named Oklahoma or Texas...

Re: WAVE opener big in Vegas
I'm only surprised about k state because the b12 has a lot of fox games, but it depends what other b12 games we are against that day
Re: WAVE opener big in Vegas
Back to the line. I can truly say it says more about UMass than Tulane
Re: WAVE opener big in Vegas
I wouldn’t be surprised if we averaged over 30 pts per game. That would mean (a) our defense is playing well, giving the offense more opportunities and (b) that we will win a lot of games.

Here. Here.
MOVING ON UP!
The only thing even in this world is the number of hours in a day.
The difference between winning or losing is what you do with those hours.

Re: WAVE opener big in Vegas
...is what a lot of folks thought when we hired Chip Long and he was just gonna come right in and keep things rolling the way Hall had them, probably even more so!
Last year we had a bunch of new coordinators and position coaches and just assumed everything would go smoothly because we were headed in the right direction and were getting bigger name guys from P5s for the spots, etc., etc. That didn't work at all. Now we're hiring a bunch of really experienced guys from lower levels. Conventional wisdom says "they've got the experience and been successful", but conventional wisdom also says "...then why did they never get to a higher level?".
Going into the 2021 season, the future view of the 2022 season was it would be our time. Easy schedule, minimum 10 wins, finally turning the corner, legitimately competing for the AAC title, Pratt becoming well known around FBS. But then 2021 happened, and personally I am less optimistic about this coming season than many of the past several. I'm not necessarily pessimistic, just not buzzing with excitement. I could see things working out where we ended up like 10-2, but this is Tulane and I've had that dream before, so....

Our ceiling is 6-6 until proven otherwise. We should go 3-1 in non con due to a soft schedule, but we wont have a better season unless we can beat the middle pack teams in conference consistently.

Indeed, we should be trained out of preseason exuberance by now. Show me a winning conference record, and then we can talk about moving forward. Show me two years' consecutive winning records in conference, and then we can assess the likelihood of becoming a champion.
Until then, it's all pie in the sky.

And sadly, we looked like we were heading that way towards the end of 2020. After a rough start changing QBs and getting our footing with a new one, we played UCF tough in the Bounce House, scored 38 points three straight games in 3 convincing wins (Temple, at ECU, Army), choked away what should have been a road win against eventual division champ Tulsa, then stomped Memphis. In other words, we'd gotten the offense clicking under frosh QB Pratt, the defense was solid, and we were beating all but the very top of the league (while still being "right there" with those top teams).tulaneoutlaw wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 11:38 am ...we wont have a better season unless we can beat the middle pack teams in conference consistently.
Then, unfortunately, last year. Back to square one.
Re: WAVE opener big in Vegas
If you think the early line for UMass is too big, here’s this little factoid:
@CFBHome: UConn hasn't beaten a FBS team in 965 days, they beat UMass 56-35… …They are currently 0-14 against FBS teams, & 1-1 vs FCS teams on this streak.
Of course this says more about UConn than anything.
UMass has a new coach this season so there will be wrinkles we haven’t seen, but so will we with new OC and OL coaches.
