There is a campus downtown. As much as TU likes to forget about it

The article says "near campus" which is misleading, if not irresponsible, to the reader not familiar with Tulane. There's a campus in Gulf Port but I wouldn't call crime there "near campus". At least not without including the actual location.

Don't use facts like that or someone will refuse to leave his safe space when his BS is called out.

Happened to me and several pals at Picou's donuts at 3:00 one morning. NOPD caught the guys and my buds and I went to a lineup. Only time that ever happened in my life.

I guess Picou's was "close to campus." Everything is relative I guess.

Picou's, where the cashier sat behind bulletproof glass and had some window thing you put your money into that you couldn't shove a gun through. You took your life into your hands to get a doughnut. Why we ever went there is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. I wonder if the place is still around.................

First time I ever encountered that arrangement was the Church's fried chicken on South Claiborne. Two inch thick plexiglass with a Lazy Susan contraption for the food and a drawer for the money exchange. I was half dumbfounded and half terrified ("why am I here?).

And before you ask question 2, I was riding with teammates who had decided to stop there for a snack.

I loooved those late night Picou's runs. It was Krispy Kreme for drunks. Bulletproof plexi, aside. 8)
