Discuss today what is happening on campus non-athletically; departments, non-athletic facilities, professors, recognitions and issues. No athletics allowed.

Tulane hosting bipartisan "Unrig the System" Summit

I know this is walking a thin line of no political talk here, but this thing will probably get some national media and social media coverage, so I guess it's cool we're playing host. The left will hate the righties there and the right will hate the lefties there, but that's life...

I think everyone can agree the system is broken.

Well, if it’s anything other than a food fight, it can’t hurt.

Right is Right, and Left is Left, and ne'er the twain shall meet.

They claim they are seeking "solutions," but the dichotomy between the two philosophies is much too great. Both sides hear the same words and draw radically divergent pictures of what was said. Nobody will really understand what the other said, and in the end, both will think it's "resolved," both will feel "victorious," both will remain frustrated, and the chasm will remain.

But then, I'm an optimist at heart, so maybe it's worse than I think..

“We will expect success in all endeavors and be prepared to assess and hold ourselves accountable when we aren't successful. Tulane is a top 40 academic institution and it should expect nothing less from its athletic department.” --Troy Dannen 11.5.16
