The graduates will wear hats with built-in umbrellas (small, flat ones).

Lots of universities have their commencements outdoors and it doesn't seem to matter about the weather.

I love this. Use the facility we own rather than renting a place. Build a connection to the football stadium for grads who will come back for homecoming someday and maybe even attend the game and tell their kids "this is where I graduated". Impress parents and family with our still-fairly-new facility with great sightlines and nice amenities so they become promoters.

Former St. Louis Cardinals HOF player Lou Brock actually invented the small umbrella hat!

He made them curved, so that the water doesn't pool in the middle. The flat ones need to have a wick hanging over the side to draw the water away.

For the Cardinals fans that felt like they always had a rain cloud over their head during those lean years!

A few weeks ago, seniors on the Tulane Class of 2020 Facebook page were very upset that commencement wouldn't be held in the Superdome. I think they're just being silly. Most of them probably only set foot in Yulman once or twice during orientation a few years back.

Probably not being silly, probably legit upset. They've seen photos and video of the fun scene in the Dome before and they're the guinea pigs for something new. Fear of the unknown...

It's not like the university had a choice. The Superdome will be under renovations.

My wife obtained a ball autographed by Lou Brock as a present for me, with the number of bases he stole next to the signature. It had a certificate of authenticity of the signature with it; it was authenticated by his wife!

Was her signature authenticated?

Umbrella hat patented in 1880. So it wasn’t Brock. Brock did market and sell brockabrellas, but he overlplayed the idea he invented it to help business
