The 2019 tournament will be held at the FedEx Forum from March 14-17, 2019. The FedEx Forum was also the home of the conference's inaugural tournament in 2014.

Once again, as it has been since TU joined the conference, Tulane will not be hosting a conference championship in any sport for 2017-18. Are we not trying to get one, or are we being snubbed?

Our lack of attendance has to hurt our chances, Aresco doesn't want to televise a half empty arena to the world.

Lots of conference tournaments are played in empty houses, I doubt attendance has much at all to do with it. I'm sure it's a bidding process, based on the amenities of the city, arena, etc. and I suspect Tulane is being pushed to the back because of our stepchild status in the conference at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if we agreed as part of joining the league that we wouldn't get to host anything for X number of years.

Don't tell CWF that.

Maybe CWF will get our first by hosting the Football Championship game!

I know baseball is a non-revenue sport but still, I always thought that a reason we got to host as much as we did was that we presented the perfect storm: a competitive $$$ proposal (probably because it meant more to us than most members), a dedicated fan base that attended games in large numbers and could be counted on to attend the Tournament, a top Program, and a venue that was probably among the best in the country for college baseball (with Zephyr Stadium or Turchin).

On Twitter FTW has been pushing the idea to have the tournament in NOLA at the Smoothie King Center. Other schools' bloggers chiming in that it's a good idea. I think having it downtown NOLA would be a big draw.

Obviously, which is why I suspect we're not hosting for some other reason.

P.S. If you haven't been to Memphis since the FedEx forum was built, go check it out in March. It's literally a block off Beale Street (main entry right behind Silky O'Sullivan's, the place we took over at Liberty Bowl 1998). Everything you'd need for a party weekend centered around basketball is walking distance, frankly much more convenient than Bourbon to the Dome/Arena.

having in an NBA arena has to be draw and New Orleans is a destination City like few others. so that can't be it. I think our dysfunctional program scares them along with our tepid fan base and probably an inadequate $$$ offer

Do we know that the Pelicans and the arena administration are willing to accommodate? Seems like they should be, but you never know....

Memphis has NBA arena, plus they are closer to the geographic center of the conference.
