Meanwhile, I just saw on Twitter that UConn is on pace to have the worst scoring defense in D1 football since 1918.
Yikes.

Completely coincidental, UConn is the only AAC team in the Bottom 10 or on the waiting list (for reference sake, 2 CUSA teams in and 3 on the waiting list):

Winners and losers from college football's first half
Winner: American Athletic Conference
Most of the college football world knows about UCF. After an undefeated year in 2017, the Knights have opened the season with five straight wins and climbed into the Top 10. But they’re not alone in the conference. Cincinnati has rattled off a 6-0 start and entered the rankings, which also includes South Florida at 5-0. Each program has defeated at least one power-conference foe, and no other league has three undefeated teams. For good measure, Houston holds a 4-1 record. Don’t declare it the “Power Six” just yet, but the AAC is clearly the nation’s next-best conference.
Loser: Connecticut Huskies
Sometimes, “historically bad” gets tossed around and doesn’t garner much attention. Let’s change that and really focus on Connecticut for a moment. Since 2009, the absolute worst defense in college football allowed 7.7 yards per play. During that span, only three have surrendered more than 7.5 over a whole season. After six weeks, the Huskies have ceded 9.21 yards per snap. There almost aren’t enough adjectives to describe that inept performance. UConn has given up at least 49 points in every game. Really, it’s a surprise the 1-5 Huskies even have a victory.

Now it's
AP
UCF 10, Cincy 20, USF 21.
Coach's
UCF 9, USF 20, Cincy 21
Houston getting votes in both polls
No other G5 team ranked in either poll
UCF missed an opportunity. They didn't move an inch in either poll, in spite of leapfrogging three teams that lost (three other teams leapfrogged them). Conference bias might have meant that UCF couldn't pick up 3 spots anyway, but a solid win against Memphis might have prevented them from getting leapfrogged by all three

UCF and USF both stayed in the same spot, Cincy dropped out. Both Cincy and Houston getting votes in both polls. Only other G5 on the seriosu radar is App State

After Week 9, UCF moved up a spot to #9, USF dropped out, but Houston moved into the top 25 (#17 in both polls). So we have two teams in the top 20.
Cincinnati and USF both receiving votes (3rd and 4th teams out in the Coach's poll, further back in the AP)

If you think there isn't an unfair bias to playing on national TV, see Houston jumping from unranked to #17 in one week. How many time was Oliver's name spoken Saturday?

UCF at #12 and Houston unranked in CFP rankings.
NCAA better be careful. The way they got roped into letting "G5" (before they called them that) conferences into major bowls the first time came out of anti trust threats. Make it TOO obvious now that there is literally no path to the playoff for a G5 team, and you might be in line for a lawsuit.

I don't think he even played and I heard it a few times

Yeah, he got more airtime on the sidelines than he normally gets while playing.

Ohio State and UCF were both off. Ohio state leap frogged UCF. Explain that. This happened while Purdue and TCU both lost weakening Ohio State's Schedule. If that isn't fishy am not sure what is.

When Ohio State lost my absolute first reaction was "if they run the table forward they'll still get in the playoff even if four other teams go undefeated, and that really sucks."

UCF wins and drops two spots (influence of the CFP poll much?). Now #11. Cincinnati back in at #25. Houston got a total of 3 votes (seems extreme).

Quite frankly, UCF should be ranked ahead of LSU. At minimum, the Tigers should be ranked closer to Florida than to Alabama. We know the strength of schedule argument for the Tigers. The Georgia win is great, but let's not over-value the wins against Miami, Auburn and Mississippi State. Those teams have a combined record of 17-10 heading into the final three weeks of the season.
LSU's College Football Playoff ranking only creates unnecessary drama

After week 11:
UCF #11 in both polls, Cincinnati 19 in the AP 20 in coaches
UAB is #25 in the coach's (!)

In the final AP Poll it's UCF #11 and UC #24, with no other AAC teams getting votes. Other G5: Fresno St #18, Army #19, Utah State #22, Boise State #23.
