the early speculation is that its Urban Meyer or Fickell as Helton's replacement.

Meyer is an obvious target. Fickell less so. All his ties are midwest and he has a large family that's comfortable in that area. He's been tied to Michigan St. if that ever opens. But with this AD it's definitely possible

Would be interesting to see UC's AD at USC and UC's basketball coach at UCLA.

Short of Cincinnati losing a game or two in their current cupcake row and then losing to both Temple and Memphis at the end, there's no way Fickell is at Cincinnati next year, even if the best offer he gets is a P5 in Timbuktu.

Second thoughts?

Quote:
According to a report from Scott Wolf of InsideUSC.com, Bohn is considering backing out of his agreement with USC after university president Carol Folt informed him that he will not be able to hire Urban Meyer as the school’s next football coach. Several other athletic director candidates are said to have turned down the USC job because they were told Meyer was not an option, but Wolf reports that Bohn was not informed until after he agreed to take the position.

Wow. So that pretty much implies they were wooed to USC with "we're going to get Urban Meyer" at first. It isn't just coincidence and all the candidates came up with going after Meyer independently.

Clay Helton can breathe easy for a bit longer. Just a bit.

Just curious: Why is Urban taboo at USC?

Supposedly:

Quote:
Meyer has been repeatedly linked to USC, but a recent report claimed Folt, who became USC’s president earlier this year, does not want to hire Meyer because of all the controversy that surrounds him. USC has enough problems to deal with, as the admissions scandal that rocked the school is still playing out. The Trojans were also one of the teams involved in the FBI’s investigation into corruption within college basketball.

Thanks. Interesting that one Olivia Jade's inability to row legitimately sinks the football team. Only in Hollywood!
