AAC finishes with four teams in the AP top 25:

#17 Memphis
#20 Navy
#21 Cincinnati
#24 UCF

SMU also got 10 votes (#32 if you count that way)

For comparison, all other G5 combined: #19 App State, #22 Air Force, #23 Boise.

Similar story in the coaches poll:

#17 Memphis
#20 Navy
#21 Cincinnati
#24 UCF

SMU got 14 votes (#33 if you count that way)

Other G5: #18 App State, #22 Boise, #23 Air Force

Putting on my cynical tinfoil hat, they probably always thought our teams more worthy all year but kept them ranked lower to ensure there was no controversy if one had gone undefeated. :coolshades:

But realistically, once the season is over, the voters are more free to look at the overall body of work and jump people significantly based on that, whereas during the year they don't jump teams weekly based on their opponents' performances and such. Like, how did UCF get that high after getting stomped in their bowl? Probably because pollsters looked at their schedule and said (for instance) "well, they lost at Cincinnati, who ended up being good, so that's not as damning." Whereas at the time, they were in the 20s and that loss simply "had" to drop them, which took them out of the poll for a while.

UCF stomped Marshall in their bowl, they didn't get stomped.

Dang, I confused them with SMU in my head. Still... Maybe surprising SMU got votes after the last month of the season, but that's more proof they are now looking at "body of work".
