LSU wrist slaps

Post by PeteRasche »

Report: LSU bans Beckham 2 years for distributing cash to players
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb ... li=BBnb7Kz

But wait, I thought it was fake money! That's what they said!!!
LSU initially claimed the bills handed out were fake but later issued a statement acknowledging real cash was given to student-athletes.
Ohhhhhhh.... funny, that part didn't get any real press, because that might have elicited outrage and complaints from their rivals. Or maybe said rivals are being quiet so as not the throw stones while living in their own glass houses...

The ban is part of recent self-imposing penalties for rules violations. The Tigers will also eliminate eight football scholarships over a two-year period while reducing recruitment visits, evaluations, and communication following a separate two-year investigation involving booster payments to the father of former offensive lineman Vadal Alexander.
Heh. Reducing communication just means they have to square away the illegal payment in one call instead of two.

Wonder if (without any mention) these self-imposed penalties get them off the hook for the basketball stuff or if that is still on the table.

This should be completely separate from basketball...if anything, they're willing to throw MBB under the bus to protect FB. I think the days of schools criticizing other schools for this kind of stuff is over (if it ever happened in the first place)...with internet, email, flight tracking, etc. there's just too many people with too much time on their hands that you don't want to provide any motivation to have them take you down.
