France England would have provided fodder for countless memes. I had to look up Croatia to see what part of old Yugoslavia it contains.
I still say speed kills so liking France to hoist that ridiculously little trophy.

Some news about Qatar world cup coming out. They are moving the tournament to a winter schedule, which will really hurt the major European professional leagues. They are also wanting to go with 48 team rather than 32. That expansion will already happen in 2026, so this would move that up four years.
What a mess.
What a mess.

Debate on TV and social media about the “sportsmanship” of the US women in their 13-0 win over Thailand in the Women’s World Cup.
Re: ***Official Soccer Thread***
Worthy of debate for sure. The very late goals.FW wrote:Debate on TV and social media about the “sportsmanship” of the US women in their 13-0 win over Thailand in the Women’s World Cup.
Re: ***Official Soccer Thread***
While it doesn't look good, the pool system means that goal differential has a real significance. Sweden is supposed to outman Thailand as well and could very well put up a high score.Ray wrote:Worthy of debate for sure. late goals weren't the issue.. the over the top celebration for late goals... especially Wambaugh's goal (which was 10th).Ray wrote:Worthy of debate for sure. It's fine to score.. but doing choreographed celebrations is a88clownery.
FIFA should cap goal differential at + or - 5.

BBC was opining that what it showed was that Thailand had no business being in a World Cup and that perhaps how some teams qualified for the Women's World Cup ought to be looked at.

there were comments along those lines from Americans, as well.. that FIFA needs to do a better job of making sure there are enough good teams in the organization to be worthy of this tournamentGreenieBacker wrote:BBC was opining that what it showed was that Thailand had no business being in a World Cup and that perhaps how some teams qualified for the Women's World Cup ought to be looked at.
