Titans take Corey Davis at #5. I'm pretty happy with that.

Re: NFL Draft
Some major reaches for quarterbacks last night. Chicago weren't the only ones to pay a steep price for a not ready to start qb. The top WRs also went earlier than most thought. TEs saw a renaissance as three were picked in the first for the first time since 2002. Defense dominated as 19 of 32 picks and 11 of the last 16 picks were on that side of the ball. SEC had the most picks with 12 (Alabama had the most of any school at 4). American had the same amount of picks as the Big 12 (and the MAC with 1).
Re: NFL Draft
I don't understand moving up one spot to take a flyer on a QB and giving up a lot to do it. Chicago has a lot of holes to fill and using the pick on a QB that isn't ready to play makes very little sense. They needed to go defense.windywave wrote:dingleberry moron moveMattK wrote:Yeah, and it was pink before they gave the details.

The Texans made a good move, the Chiefs made a weird move, the Bears made a crazy move.

100% agree with you. The experts don't agree with me, but the eyeball test says only Watson has a chance to be special. You can't teach the ability play your best in pressure situations and he is the only one that has proven he can do that. Kansas City has a QB (Alex Smith haters aside) and is ready to win now. They could have used somebody ready to play immediately.long green wrote:The Texans made a good move, the Chiefs made a weird move, the Bears made a crazy move.

Re: NFL Draft
I think KC acted worse than Chicago. Both sold depth to go all in on QBs that we all question if they are really franchise QBs. But at least in the case of Chicago, if they are right about their QB (not saying they are), this will look like a good move 5 years from now. They weren't going to win now anyway, and if their QB surprises us, he'll be well worth what they have up. If he isn't a franchise QB then this becomes stupid.
With KC it looks like a bad move no matter what. They have the ability to win now. They need players in the first that will help them do that. They passed up on that to do the same thing, same risks as Chicago, for a QB I'd be even more concerned about. That's truly head scratch worthy.

Re: NFL Draft
I disagree on Chicago Prof since Chicago could have called SF's bluff. Worst case if SF takes Trubinsky, Chicago takes Thomas and keeps all of the other picks. Boneheaded on its face.

Re: NFL Draft
there is an article on espn dot com talking about all three QB trades... the KC one was actually the worst because of the value they get from Mahomes... the pundits say the earliest he could start is 2018 but most likely 2019 based on his learning curve... so KC loses that "value" of having a cheap starting QB on a rookie deal like Dallas is enjoying with Prescott (at least 2 years of that value). Houston can throw Watson right away because their other options were horrific... their defense should be scary good enough to give Watson time to grow into the position in year 1. The Bears could also throw in Trubisky right away like you mention because they weren't going to win this season.WaveProf wrote:I think KC acted worse than Chicago.
