Best LA Athlete Parish by Parish

“We will expect success in all endeavors and be prepared to assess and hold ourselves accountable when we aren't successful. Tulane is a top 40 academic institution and it should expect nothing less from its athletic department.” --Troy Dannen 11.5.16

Los Angeles is known for turning out a lot of athletes from its Catholic schools. I'm excited to see which football player from Mater Dei is ranked highest

This map should help people unfamiliar with the area

Interesting list. Unless I overlooked it, no Tulane reps on first half of parishes.

While I normally support these efforts, I think the subject gives enough info on this one.

So who should we see tomorrow?

Terrence Jones - St. James
Marc Zeno - St. James
Paul Thompson - Rapides
Steve Foley - Orleans
Eddie Price - Orleans
Matt Forte - St. Tammany
Johnny Arthurs - Orleans (???)

Who was left off?
IMO,
Michael Aubrey - Caddo
Cary Livingston - Jefferson
Mewelde Moore - East Baton Rouge
Charlie Hall - Calcasieu

Part 2:

Matt Forte is an "also mentioned"

Lionel Washington "won" his Parish.

Peyton Manning "won" Orleans.

Didn't have time to read through some of the other parishes from the second half.

If Peyton Manning won, then they are clearly defining athlete as "person who made a name for themselves in a sport" rather than the individual description of "having amazing athletic ability".

I enjoyed reading it even though I knew it was going to be LSU oriented. Interns who did research on this obviously worked hard but included too few pre-WWII athletes. I only recall Ott, Lyons and Torrance as being recognized. As noted above key omission was Bill Banker who, let's face it, went to the wrong school to be recognized.

As concerns Eddie Price, his college and career stats are comparable to Peyton Manning's if not better. (Same could be said for Steve Van Buren.) Tie breaker would be while Peyton was making very funny ESPN commercials at a similar age, Price was "working" at Luzon and other spots in the Pacific.

Matt Forte arguably should have beaten Isaiah Robertson, though he was a great player.
Forte is still adding to his resume.

Good to see Bobby Duhon listed.
