Re: Coaching Carousel 2017-18
Word here is that Fulmer now wants to be AD, at least in the interim. He's already a special assistant to the president or something like that.
This definitely puts the search on hold until somebody is in place. I would think that Leach might still be in play at that point, but who knows? Somewhere Les Miles is eagerly waiting by his phone.

So how about Tee Martin as HC with Fullmer as interim AD? Martin was a QB at Tenn. and is now a highly respected OC at USC?

for a carousel palate-cleanser: Oregon State hired former QB and Washington OC Jonathan Smith as their head coach. He was one of two guys I thought were logical candidates.

As Florida State anticipates Jimbo Fisher's departure to Texas A&M, 10-year deal reportedly in works

The deal would likely make Fisher one of the top paid coaches in college football, possibly only behind the Crimson Tide's Nick Saban
FSU was 5-6 in 2017. Has the SEC completely lost its mind?

Re: Coaching Carousel 2017-18
6-6 after tomorrow. FSU rescheduled their canceled game with ULM. I hope ULM asked for and got some extra $. FSU would have been 9-3 or better if their starting QB had played the whole year.
Remember that the reported details almost always lag behind the actual numbers. A&M just cares about the reported numbers that everyone will repeat.
on edit: FSU will be 6-6 but Fisher will remain 5-6 for 2017 as he is not coaching the Noles tomorrow.

Those are rumors that are traveling around the Vol Nation this afternoon. Early in the process some were calling for Peyton Manning to be the HC; Tee Martin would be following the tradition of Fulmer, who played his college football at UT.GreenieBacker wrote:So how about Tee Martin as HC with Fullmer as interim AD? Re: Coaching Carousel 2017-18
Tee Martin seems to have done a really good job as USC's OC but apparently there was some bad blood betwee him and Tenn. But, if I remember correctly, he was the QB under Fullmer and if Fullmer becomes interim AD that might smooth things over.
but you have to consider what the Tenn. Nation must be thinking from names like John Gruden ( ), as well as HC's at successful Programs to............an OC. With no HC experience that I know of. Kinda like us shooting for Rich Rod and ending up with CJ, a Position Coach.
the whole thing is Dicksonesque which is why it fascinates me so much.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2017-18
Tee Martin would be extremely welcome by the fan base. The knock against him is just a couple years at OC at USC.
Martin was the qb when Tennessee won the NC end is well liked for his association with that time period

Fulmer was named interim AD a couple of hours ago. Will see about Tee

Re: Coaching Carousel 2017-18
Tough to justify paying Saban money to a coach whose team quit so easily. Reference Boston College 35 - FSU 3. They barely managed to come out of the locker room after halftime.long green wrote:6-6 after tomorrow. FSU rescheduled their canceled game with ULM. I hope ULM asked for and got some extra $. Re: Coaching Carousel 2017-18
FSU has openly said they want a minority coach. I think Taggart is top choice, then Sumlin and Strong.
Unrelated note - New Mexico St. just beat South Alabama to go 6-6. They will be bowling for the first time since the 1960 Sun Bowl. That was by far the longest active drought. Now on the clock? Kansas (2008 Insight Bowl).

I see Frost will coach UCF in its bowl game.
I hated it when Mack Brown coached us.
